Post Conference Schools (12 сент 1880 г. – 31 дек 1959 г.)
Описание:
All deaf teachers were fired. Signing was banned in schools. Kids would have their hands slapped with rulers or tied together if they signed. The focus of schools was to make deaf kids as much like hearing people as possible. The National Association of the Deaf preserved sign language. Gallaudet University still used sign. This most likely made deaf people feel oppressed. They no longer had their own culture. They had no pride in who they were because they were constantly being told that they needed to be fixed.
