General Robert E Lee invaded the Union on their own soil. He threatened Washington D.C. and forced Abraham LincolnTo agree to a peace treaty. The Confederacy was pursued by the Union and fought for about 3 days. The Confederacy lost 28,000 men that day and Union 23,000. The Union crushed the Confederacy.
