Detente literally means "relaxing" or "relaxed" was a period in Nixon and Brezhnev's leadership which was characterized by the thawing of USSR and US relations. Both sides met with each other to talk about arms limitation (SALT was in this period), MAD prevention, and increased trade and connection with each other. Ultimately, Detente ended when the USSR invaded Afghanistand and when Reagan became president (since he was a hard-line anti-USSR president)Добавлено на ленту времени:
