To stop the western allies from helping the poverty-stricken East Berlin and to stop East Berliners from escaping, the USSR blocked railroads and other methods of transportation from West Berlin to East Berlin. The allies weren't having it so they devised a plan to drop supplies into East Berlin while at the same time ferrying people out of East Berlin on planes. It was very effective because the USSR couldn't do anything besides shoot down the planes (which they definitely didn't want to do) . Finally, the blockade was lifted after negotiations, but the allies continued to drop supplies for some time after that.Добавлено на ленту времени:
