In the wake of WWII, the beaten and battered France gave up all its territories in Indochina, except Vietnam. Fighting for their way of life, the Vietnamese used guerilla tactics to slowly beat back the ineffective French army in what was called the First Indochina War. Soon, it looked like France would lose altogether and the Battle of Dien Bien Phu cemented that fact. The Viet Minh had the territorial advantage and were able to lay a decisive win against the French. Immediately after the fall of Dien Bien Phu, the Geneva Conference was held and the French would never have significant control over Vietnam ever again.Добавлено на ленту времени:
