A new party was created which was made to serve the needs of the working class, known as the Socialist Party. This party was more radical than the progressives with their ideologies and calls for reform such as public ownership of local utilities, railroads, and industries such as steel and oil. Eugene V dubs was one of the founders of this party and he ran for presidency from 1900 to 1920. He was very outspoken about problems and corruptions dealing with business and labor, and he was a huge advocate for the cause of improving these issues. progressives and Socialists work together to better some of the issues that they were passionate about such as improving minimum wage; however, most progressives did not want to be associated with Socialists because they did not want to be seen as radicals.
