Captain John Seif Ramon leading a US topographical exposition to survey the Great Basin entered Sacramento Valley, Pheromones Party was at ,upper Klamath lake Oregon Territory, when they found out that war between Mexico and the US is imminent so the party returned to California on Sloats orders.Fremont brought 160 volunteers to Monterey in addition to the California Battalion.
