1940s - 1950s "A Wild Hare" "Puss Gets the Boot" (1 янв 1940 г. – 1 янв 1950 г.)

Описание:

The 1940s was the first appearance of major cartoon characters such as Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Casper the Ghost, etc.

“A Wild Hare” (1940) - It was released on July 27 1940 and is a Warner Bros animated short film from the theatrical cartoon series called Merrie Melodies, produced by Leon Schlesinger Productions, written by Rich Hogan and directed by Tex Avery. This was one of the first appearances of the iconic cartoon character, Bugs Bunny, the short film laid the foundation of his personality for future incarnation as a karmic trickster and where his famous line “Eh, what's up Doc?" would become his catchphrase throughout their subsequent film.

1940 “Puss Gets the Boot” was the first ever appearance of Tom & Jerry, one of Warner Bros’ biggest stars. It was directed by William Hanna, Joseph Barbera and Rudolf Ising, and was released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). “Puss Gets the Boot” was based on Aesop's Fable, The Cat and the Mice, and originally Tom was named Jasper while Jerry was unnamed but in pre-production was given the name Jinx.

It was produced by Rudolf Ising and Fred Quimby and was advised by management not to produce anymore after its release, however, that changed when a Texas business woman Bessa Short sent a letter to MGM asking whether more cat and mouse shorts would be produced which helped sway the management to commission a series. This led Hanna and Barbera to the production of “The Midnight Snack” (1941) which led to the Tom and Jerry cartoon to continue for the next 15 years.
