French and Indian War: Causation (1 янв 1754 г. – 1 янв 1763 г.)

Cause:
- Ohio River: This began over an issue of whether the upper Ohio Valley was part of the British Empire, or part of the French empire and their right to trade with the Native Americans
- Forts: France built forts to protect their trade with Native American through the fur trade
- George Washington: sent to build an English fort in the Ohio River Valley to oppose the French

Effects:
- Debt: war cost a lot of money for Britain to pay for soldiers, supplies, etc.
- Native Americans: New British land was full of unhappy Natives in the west who just lost a war and some of their land.
- Ex. Pontiac's Rebellion- Chief Pontiac led a major attack against colonial settlements on western frontier. This resulted in the Proclamation of 1763 which makes it illegal for the colonists to move further west
- Land: France lost a lot of land and England gained new land from the war.
