Early modernism was a time when artists and designers broke from tradition to create a new style of design that would influence all artists and designers around the world. Early modernism artists were described as new or experimental, as they changed the way people saw design and art. Expressionism was a big part of early modernism in design. They took photographs of bold expressions to captivate consumers and admirers.

The early modern style relies on using photos and bold colours to attract attention. Editing them and making them pop with some bold aspects of surrealism. There were a lot of painters in this era, oil paint was massive in the time as well as acrylic. Instead of solid backgrounds artists changed their style to painting silhouettes of people that appear to be floating rather than realistic depictions with stable backgrounds which was common in the previous era. They painted buildings with specks and lines instead of solid and crisp lines, paired with symmetry in which the artists favoured.
