Queen Victoria was the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 1837–1901. She was also the Empress of India from 1876–1901. Queen Victoria is the second-longest reigning British monarch. " During her reign, the English monarchy took on its modern ceremonial character." She was born in London in 1817, married Prince Consort Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, had nine children, and died in 1901.
