Known also as the Seven Years' War, the French and Indian War was a clash of powers between England and France over colonies. France dominated early on because of their superior resources, but England's William Pitt took a personal interest in 1757 and poured funds into the war. Both sides recruited Native American tribes to fight with them. This was also George Washington's militaristic debut.
