The European Union is a league comprised of 27 European nations. It was created to help promote trade, welfare and peace between nations. The countries in the EU are treated more like states, with more open borders than countries typically have. Another effort to assimilate Europe is the introduction of the Euro. The transition to the Eurozone has had its difficulties, for example, in Greece it made matters worse, and their economy is failing. The European Union is an example of globalization.
