Forging China into a nation under the ideal of socialism, the XinHai Revolution was a Chinese Nationalists Democratic Movement which overthrew the Qing Dynasty. Before the revolution began, the Chinese government, defeated by Western countries, were forced to trade and share territories. Yet because of the large expenses in war, the government became bankrupt. Selling the railway in China to western countries in order to boost the economy, the government angered the people, thus starting the XinHai Revolution. Granting freedom to the Chinese people, the revolution brought the idea of democracy to the nation. Also, the revolution westernized China, beginning the rise of the working class. Most importantly, the XinHai Revolution ended the Qing Dynasty, which ruled for more than 300 years, thus starting the warlord era, a period of time which China was separated and led by regional leaders.
