Ruling dynasty from 1368-1644. The Ming Empire is well known for its double of population and its trade expansion to the outside world. The most popular export of the Ming Dynasty was porcelain, created by mixing china-stone with china-clay then baking it. The dynasty founder was Emperor Taizu, who was born into an impoverished family and worked his way to the top by joining a rebel group which successfully invaded the city of Nanjing.
