The North-West Resistance (26 март 1885 г. – 3 июн 1885 г.)
Описание:
Fought in the Saskatchewan & Alberta area by the Métis and First Nations who allied them in their resistance against the government of Canada. A year before the resistance in 1884, Louis Riel finally returned from his exile 15 years ago after the Red River Resistance. He united those who were not satisfied with the government from the North-West to talk to Sir John A. Macdonald's government about their issues. Later that year in fall, Riel created a petition for the Métis and even the non-Métis to sign. A few months later on March 8 in 1885, the Métis passed their own bill, the Revolutionary Bill of Rights, which was a 10-point bill that declared Métis rights to their own farms, and other demands to the government. The Métis created their own provisional government once again with Riel as president on March 18-19, seized a church at Batoche, then they demanded that the government surrender the Hudson's Bay Company trading post which was at Fort Carlton. After that came a few more violent battles, the Battle of Duck Lake, the Battle of Fish Creek, and lastly, the Battle of Batoche. On top of all the bloodshed that went on during all the battling, the government also executed a few others. They hung Louis Riel on November 16, 1885, and on November 27, 1885, they hung 6 Cree and 2 Assiniboine battlers.
