Victorian age is named after Victoria, who became a queen in 1837 at the age of 18 and ruled for 68 years until her death in 1901. The period from 1837 to 1901 is called the Victorian era.
Victoria was born at Kensington Palace, London, on 24 May 1819. She was the only daughter of Edward Duke, fourth son of George III. Her father died shortly after her birth and she became the successor to the throne. From 1837 to 1901, Britain and Ireland were ruled by Queen Victoria. From 1877 she also carried, to her great pleasure, the title "Empress of India".
It was the time of the world’s first industrial revolution, political reform, social change, and more machines started to pop up to make the industrial life easier. New machines, faster and more production, and cheap goods. Infrastructure made the railroad result in a transport revolution, transport for goods and people became faster and cheaper.
