Frances Allen was a very influential female computer scientist.
REASONS WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT:
1) She worked at IBM for 45 years, doing things like teaching people to use FORTRAN and optimize compilers to translate from high-level computer language to machine language
2) She worked on the compilers for multiple supercomputers that had been ordered by the NSA
3) She was the first woman to win the Turing award.
