2/27/96 Carl Sagan "I personally have been captured by the notion of extraterrestrial life... It would be an absolutely transforming event in human history... we have to be very careful. There have been a few instances in the [past]. We thought we found something, and it always turned out to be explicable."
6/28/23 Michio Kaku, CCNY "Physicists say 'follow the data'. Previously, we did not have much data... now we have hours of videotape from the U.S. Navy... these objects can travel between Mach 5 and Mach 20: up to 20 times the speed of sound. They can drop 80,000 feet within a few seconds.... we have videotapes of them diving into the oceans and then swimming... it seems to be beyond anything we can field with our arsenal... now the military has to prove that these are NOT extraterrestrials"
2/17/59 "The Cosmic Man" (Hollywood movie) Released 8 years after "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (saucer craft) "USAF tracks a white sphere UFO traveling at 180,000 mph.... comes to rest floating 6 feet above the ground... the USAF crew is unable to move the sphere, even though it is attached to nothing"
4/15/1974 Gibraltar, Spain round sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "between the towns of Ceuta and Algeciras. Passengers on a ferry... saw a 'round intense torch-like light. . . . Rose out of the water near a huge rock, traveled at low altitude, then fell into the water again. This happened twice.' The same day, at the northwest coastal city of La Coruña, a newspaper photographer took 4 photos of a round UFO, which were published in a local newspaper"
1957 Lt. Col. Phillip Corso commands missile unit at Army Missile Firing Range at Red Canyon Range Battalion in the White Sands, NM area (8:30 min) Nike missile system picked up objects traveling at over 3000 mph. Tapes were made, but 1st HQ was "not interested" (26 min). He later "forgot about it"
1957 Where Corso's story becomes hard to believe (sheltering from heat in Red Canyon gold mine cave "oasis" near White Sands where soldiers would gather by pool of water for "natural air conditioning): "I drew my .45 and snapped off the safety. (Every other cartridge had a buckshot type used to shoot rattlers.) In this cave like structure, I eouldn r t miss, I drew the gun and rolled on my side . Suddenly, a word registered in my head — 'Don't.' In mental telepathy I responded , 'Friend or Foe'..."
July 1947 Lt. Col. Phillip Corso claims to have seen "grey" Roswell body at Fort Riley (KS) while it was in transit to Wright-Patterson AFB (OH) Looked under a tarp after hearing about a supposed body from soldiers under his command. Learned about destination from the driver (19 min) "No question" they were not "dummies" as portrayed in 1990s USAF conference (19 min) Later serves in Korea, White House National Security Council (NSC), missiles bases in New Mexico and Germany, and Army R&D at Pentagon
1958 Lt. Col. Phillip Corso commands 552 Missile Battalion in Germany (8:30 min) 18 months Again, Nike missile system picked up objects traveling at over 3000 mph (copy)
9/14/1978 "Mork & Mindy" (U.S. television show) "Mork arrives on Earth in an egg-shaped spacecraft"
11/16/1977 "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" Released 26 years after "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (saucer craft)
6/11/1982 "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" Released 31 years after "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (spherical craft)
1957 "flew over the area the next day and saw something metallic and round on the ground at an angle. (My [radio controlled targets aka] R-CATS were red). My pilot in the small army plane asked what I thought it was. I answered: 'possibly a booster from our missiles or a piece of an exploded missile.' I wasn't too interested in UFOs at the time. I was known as a serious commander...If I would have made an issue of the incident, I surely would have been ordered to 'forget it' or be typed a kook"
Corso: "In the early-1950s, an Air Force General stated, 'We have lost many men and planes trying to intercept them'. They were able to fault our Minutemen missiles at will. Each fault was traced to the guidance and control system, During ICBM test, unexplained aerial vehicles interfered with the firing. Automatic tracking devices often would lock on UFOs. I experienced this phenomena twice while commanding U.S. Army Missile units"
1957 "...The reply came back, 'Neither.' I was impressed. In the shimmering half light, bouncing off the moving water, I saw a figure which appeared transparent. It had on a helmet, silver in color, large slanted eyes and a bright red spot on a band across the forehead... On the way back I kept thinking...hallucination... The mental conversation, I dismissed this, at the time, as figments of my imagination. In 1960, I discovered that without vocal cords they probably communicated by mental telepathy"
July 1999 COMETA report given to French President Jacques Chirac (made public in 2007 by GEIPAN, a unit of the French space agency, CNES) Authored by former auditors of Institut des hautes études de défense nationale (IHEDN) Conclusion: "almost certain physical reality of completely unknown flying objects with remarkable flight performances and noiselessness, apparently operated by intelligent [beings]" As of 2005, GEIPAN claimed at least 13% of observations in the files were unexplained (22% by 2012)
Eric Davis at Sol Foundation Conference 2024: "it's been pretty clear from people like Jim Lacatski...president...4-star Admiral, General, 3-star Admiral, Colonel's... corporate vice president's who've either been briefed on it directly or had worked on it directly... that it is of non-human origin. It's very clear: there's no ambiguity. I talked to the program people themselves at one particular well-known aerospace company.
Eric Davis at Sol Foundation Conference 2024: "One of the things that gob-smacked me is this is not a myth. This is not people writing UFO books ... there's a "there" there. These people are not dumb. They're not putting out BS. I was representing the DIA at the time so they're not allowed to give me BS... descriptions I've received...foreign intelligence I've been exposed to is pretty stark. Including photographs I've seen, reports I've seen, lab testing of materials that have been recovered"
Eric Davis at Sol Foundation Conference 2024: "aerospace companies...made some very interesting discoveries in the advanced materials aspect...hardware that was recovered... but propulsion and power...no. Jim Lacatski describes in his recent book...how he was able to see an intact craft and go inside of it. He couldn't recognize any kind of power or propulsion system inside of it. A 4-star general described being able to see that craft as well as touch it...'this isn't anything that we ever made'"
1998 Alleged on-going work at Battelle (see 1953) Richard Boylan: "NSC's Special Studies Group has tripled in size. [Michael Kruvant] Wolf reported, 'It now numbers 36 members, including Henry Kissinger and Edward Teller. The MJ-12 Committee meets at various confidential locations, including the Battelle Memorial Institute'... it was Dr. Edward Teller who recommended physicist [and fellow leaker] Bob Lazar for his position at... S-4"

Nov 2004 Dave Beatty rendering USS Nimitz off the coast of San Diego "As we turned back towards our CAP point, roughly 60 miles east, the air controller let us know that the object had reappeared on the Princeton’s Aegis SPY 1 radar at our CAP point. This Tic Tac Object had just traveled 60 miles in a very short period of time, was far superior in performance to my brand new F/A-18F and did not operate with any of the known aerodynamic principles that we expect"
2014 Grok rendering USS Theodore Roosevelt off the coast of Virginia Beach "Initially dismissed as software glitches, we soon corroborated these radar tracks with infrared sensors... one of the pilots saw a dark gray cube inside of a clear sphere — motionless against the wind, fixed directly at the entry point... could accelerate at speeds up to Mach 1, hold their position against hurricane-force winds"
Nov 2004 Christopher Mellon, Fmr. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, speaking in 2024 To James C. Fox: "When I first contacted the Armed Serivces committee, I said to one of the staffers there: 'why don't you get the deck logs for the Nimitz from November 2004?' He went to the congressional research office and tasked them to go to the National Archives. Guess what? They're missing for that one limited window of time. The records before and after there are there"
2014 Lt. Ryan Graves, USN, F/A-18E/F Super Hornet pilot USS Theodore Roosevelt off the coast of Virginia Beach "UAP we encountered and tracked on multiple sensors behaved in ways that surpassed our understanding... could accelerate at speeds up to Mach 1, hold their position against hurricane-force winds, and outlast our fighter jets, operating continuously... They did not have any visible means of lift, control surfaces or propulsion...I am a trained engineer and I have no explanation for this"
Nov 2004 CDR David Fravor, USN, F/A-18E/F Super Hornet pilot USS Nimitz off the coast of San Diego "As we turned back towards our CAP point, roughly 60 miles east, the air controller let us know that the object had reappeared on the Princeton’s Aegis SPY 1 radar at our CAP point. This Tic Tac Object had just traveled 60 miles in a very short period of time, was far superior in performance to my brand new F/A-18F and did not operate with any of the known aerodynamic principles that we expect"

3/7/1988 George H.W. Bush Dolan: "On March 7, 1988, at a political rally in Rogers, Arkansas, Bush was about to meet with reporters when a man named Charles Huffer approached him. Carrying his tape recorder, Huffer asked Bush if, once elected President, he would 'tell the truth about UFOs.' 'Yeah,' replied Bush – quickly adding, 'if we can find it, what it is. We are really interested.' 'You’re a CIA man. You know all that stuff ,' [said Huffer]. 'I know some,' replied Bush. 'I know a fair amount'"
6/27/1982 Ronald Reagan Dolan: "thirty five others attended the special screening [of E.T.], including Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. The movie deeply affected the Reagans, and the President said quietly to Spielberg, 'you know, there aren’t six people in this room who know how true this really is.' Apparently, the surrounding crowd made further conversation impractical. The story came from Hollywood television producer Jamie Shandera, who said that Spielberg had told him this personally"
9/21/87 Ronald Reagan speech at UN Headquarters "occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world. And yet, I ask you, is not an alien force already among us? What could be more alien to the universal aspirations of our peoples than war and the threat of war?"
1974 Ronald Reagan on orb sighting as CA governor "We followed it for several minutes. It was a bright white light. We followed it to Bakersfield, and all of a sudden to our utter amazement it went straight up into the heavens." Editors of Editors of Publications International: "When Norman C. Miller expressed some doubt, a 'look of horror came over [Reagan]. It suddenly dawned on him . . . that he was talking to a reporter.' Immediately afterward, according to Miller, Reagan 'clammed up'"
6/27/1982 Steven Spielberg confirmation of discussion with Ronald Reagan during "E.T." screening Interview with Alejandro Rojas (Open Minds Magazine) in 2011 "he looked around the room and said, 'And there are a number of people in this room who know that everything on that screen is absolutely true.' And he said it without smiling! But he said that and everybody laughed, by the way. The whole room laughed because he presented it like a joke, but he wasn't smiling as he said it."
June 1977 Jimmy Carter briefing Dolan: "According to former USAF Captain Robert Collins, 'a lone MJ-12 briefing officer' met with the President... author can relate an anecdote told to him privately by a well-placed source. In June 1977, an aide who was 'very, very close to Carter' walked into the Oval Office following a briefing that the aide knew had concerned the topic of UFOs. Carter was sobbing, with his head in his hands... a few of Carter’s phrases made it clear he was deeply upset about the t
11/19/1985 to 11/20/1985 Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev in Geneva Dolan: "While making a toast, Reagan surprised everyone by discussing the idea of an alien invasion... told Gorbachev and the Soviet delegation how much easier their tasks might be 'if suddenly there was a threat to this world from another species from another planet outside in the universe'...received a great deal of publicity... Grant Cameron located a State Department “Memorandum of Conversation” that recorded Reagan’s comment"
6/28/1982 (1983 picture) Dolan: "following morning, Reagan was briefed on the U.S. Space Program. Initially meeting in the highly secure Situation Room with Chief of Staff James Baker, Attorney Gen Edwin Meese, and Dep Chief of Staff Michael Deaver, the four then met with 6 members of the National Security Council (NSC) – but no one from NASA. Grant Cameron noted NASA’s absence from this kind of meeting as “unheard of.” It would seem that NASA had become irrelevant to the true U.S. space program"
Earliest 1981? (Pictured with Chief of Staff James Baker in Oct 1981) Dolan: "author can disclose a discussion he had with one 'insider' who was well-placed in the intel community during the Reagan years..."how much do the Presidents know”... “some knew more than others.” While hinting that he did not believe Clinton or George W. Bush had been briefed significantly on the topic, it was his knowledge that Reagan had been briefed (and his near certainty that Carter and Bush Sr. also had)"
4/2/1982 Dolan: "executive order signed by President Reagan... #12356, which eliminated response time limits to FOIA requests. Almost immediately, searches for UFO documents were significantly delayed. Henceforth, it would not be uncommon for a search to last 2 years or more... fees rose accordingly, sometimes substantially – as high in one instance as $250,000... served notice that the glory era of FOIA had ended... data slowed to a trickle compared with earlier years.
July 1977 Jack Watson recalls Jimmy Carter UAP briefing. Chief of Staff from June 1980 to 1981. Cabinet Secretary from 1977 to 1980. (Pictured together in Nov 1977) Eric Davis (at Sol Conference 2024): "Carter was definitely briefed. I had that directly from his last Chief of Staff, [Jack Watson], who I interviewed with another colleague of mine from [unclear]. ... And we have a document from Carter's library to the effect that that briefing took place and who attended it"
Circa Jan 1969-Aug 1974 Possible Nixon UFO briefing scheduled by Chief of Staff H.R. Halderman (Pictured together in Jan 1972) Eric Davis (at Sol Conference 2024): "I know that Nixon and Reagan and I believe Kennedy [were] briefed. I definitely know that Eisenhower was briefed... Bill Clinton, no. I think Bush Jr. was briefed to some extent... [Clinton's] cabinet secretaries lied to him... that's a private conversation between the person he told that to and myself, who was a former boss of mine"
1975-1985 Dolan: "for a period of about ten years (1975 to 1985), the Freedom of Information Act also provided an effective tool to get at the UFO problem. Unfortunately, changes during the Reagan era have since limited its usefulness, and the military dimension to the UFO problem remains locked away within the classified world"
Eric Davis in 2024: "I had conversations with him back in 2003 [after the "Wilson-Davis memo" in Oct 2002]...he was not briefed as a President on this subject. He was briefed as an incoming CIA director...when he became President he didn't hear about it anymore... he wasn't told who in the CIA was running it... major UAP event um that was took place in early 60s and Bush's eyes lit up... he said: 'Are you kidding me? There's a 'there' there?'"
11/19/1985 to 11/20/1985 Mikhail Gorbachev recalling Reagan's comments in Geneva in 1985 during an appearance on Charlie Rose in 2009 Michels: "Gorbachev goes in a really weird direction that nobody expects and he says, "well one time we're sitting there'... Reagan turns to him and he whispers he says 'If the United States were attacked by someone from outer space would you help us?' He said 'No doubt about it.'"

10/20/1947 Dayton, OH sighting of two cigar-shaped craft near Wright Patterson AFB (Grok rendering) USAF report: "Impossible to draw definite conclusions. Extremely unlikely they were fireballs ... could say the cigarlike shape might have been an illusion caused by rapid motion ... This investigator does not prefer that interpretation, and it should be resorted to only if all other possible explanations fail"
8/1/1952 MT and Wright-Patterson AFB sightings (Grok rendering) Dolan: "Air Defense Command radar station outside of Yaak, MT, picked up a UFO ... daytime... station crew saw a “dark, cigar-shaped object” right where the radar indicated. Algeria, Morocco, and Spain, in particular, were the scene of many low-flying, agile, fast, and oval-shaped objects, often seen by many people. In many cases, the objects made “impossible” no-radius turns, and were silent"
3/23/1957 Long Beach, CA orb sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "large numbers—perhaps thousands—of people, including three Ventura County deputy sheriffs, saw four strange flying objects. They appeared to be large, round, and flashing a brilliant red light. CAA radar tracked them, and by midnight, air force personnel at Oxnard AFB also saw them. When an F-89 was sent to pursue, the objects climbed and swiftly maneuvered away... 3,600 miles per hour... [tower operator was silenced by USAF officials]"
Late 1956 Castle AFB (CA) ellipse sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "Control tower personnel spotted a luminous elliptical object, and 2 interceptors closed in... Ground radar tracked the object ... before the object accelerated away. Several officers arrived from another base to debrief the pilots told the pilots not to discuss the sighting at all... Richard Hall added that he personally knew of many instances in which military witnesses were debriefed by officers who displayed detailed UFO knowledge
1/7/1948 Godman AFB (KY) round sighting + crash (Grok rendering) Dolan: "At 1:20 PM., a large object was seen by the commanding officer and other... 'The information on this sighting will be analyzed by ATIC at Dayton, Ohio,' and leave it go at that. If your people get into analyzing the 10-20% area to the public, every news media will pick up the story"
Dec 1953 JANAP 146 Joint Chiefs including Twining (far left) Dolan: "reissued JANAP 146...made any public release of a UFO report a crime under the Espionage Act, punishable by a 1-to-10-year prison term or a $10,000 fine. 1/20/1951 Fairchild AFB (WA) sphere sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "2 intelligence specialists saw a large, bluishwhite, spherical object approaching, which they later determined to be moving at 1,400 mph.
9/19/1952 Topcliffe Airfield (Yorkshire, UK) sphere sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "At 10:52 AM, a silver and spherical UFO appeared above Topcliffe Airfield... Several ground crew members and civilians saw the object. An RAF Meteor jet was scrambled, and the pilot got close enough to describe the object as rotating around its vertical axis and wobbling slightly. The UFO moved in a zigzag fashion and then flew off"
9/20/1952 North Sea sphere sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "The Mainbrace 'wave' continued the next day, when six RAF jets over the North Sea saw a spherical object heading towards them. They tracked it, lost it, and found it as it appeared directly behind them. One Meteor pilot tried to intercept the object, but it easily outpaced him. UFO research Jenny Randles pointed out that this was precisely the behavior displayed by the objects seen over the Capitol in Washington, DC"
9/24/1952 UK sphere sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "The last Mainbrace sighting occurred three days later, on September 24, when a Meteor fighter came close to a silvery spherical UFO revolving around its axis. The object flew away before the pilot got too close"
7/20/1948 The Hague, Netherlands, cigar sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "Netherlands government reported to the USAF that a wingless, cigar-shaped object with two decks of windows was seen flying rapidly on four separate occasions at The Hague."
1950 earliest? Buzz Aldrin UFO incident, follow-up with sister in 1990s James C. Fox: "I actually went to [Fay Ann Aldrin Potter's] 80th birthday and she said: 'somebody's gotten to him.' I said: 'what do you mean?" She goes: "somebody got to him she goes he won't even talk to me about it anymore
1950 earliest? Buzz Aldrin UFO incident, follow-up in Monte Carlo hotel in 1990s James C. Fox: "I was assuming he was going to be like: 'Hey I'll be right down'... [instead he said:] 'I'm not doing the interview'... he said Paul Allen just invested in SEI and he got labeled a UFO freak or something and 'I can't jeopardize my initiative I'm working with Congress right now... I'm trying to get money to develop a rocket that's going to help put civilians in the space"
1950 earliest? Buzz Aldrin UFO incident, possibly disc James C. Fox: "I met with [his sister] Fay Ann [Aldrin] Potter at a restaurant in Larkspur called the Left Bank: 'my brother told me about a UFO encounter that he had while piloting a military jet'... I will be honest with you. I can't remember if she said it happened in the 1950's or 1960s, but she said he was rattled to the core. That he chased a disc as high as he his plane would go or to the point where it was going to be dangerous if he went
7/30/1947 FBI / Army Intelligence Report alluding to ghost rockets "This 'flying saucer' situation is not all imaginary or seeing too much in some natural phenomena. Something is really flying around. (b) Lack of topside inquiries, when compared to the prompt and demanding inquiries that have originated topside upon former events [such as the Swedish ghost rockets of 1946], give more than ordinary weight to the possibility that this is a domestic project about which the President, etc., know"
1954 (no month given, anonymous officer) USS FDR cigar and round sighting in unknown ocean (Dolan book rendering) Officer: "weapons would not allow themselves to be prepared for engagement ...craft rapidly traveled upward as two small, round objects exited the water... much larger cigar arrived from directly above the FDR and the two smaller disks entered the cigar, and then the cigar once again departed upward... cigar returned and dove into the water"
4/7/1954 USS Curtiss sighting, shape unknown (Grok rendering) Dolan: "USS Curtiss (AV-4), as part of Operation Castle, had left Bikini Atoll for Eniwetok about 200 miles away. The ship was carrying components of 6 thermonuclear bombs which were assembled on board by the scientific laboratory to be detonated at the two atolls...at 11:35 pm local time, an unidentified luminous object passed over the ship from bow to stern... yellowish-orange in color, traveling rapidly and a low altitude"
7/7/1947 "Rhodes photograph" taken in Phoenix, AZ and published in Arizona Republic Preston Dennett: "Kenneth Arnold viewed the photos and seeing that they portrayed what he had seen earlier that year over Mount Rainier... "[FBI] confiscated the negative and said I could get it back soon. But that never happened. Years later when I called the FBI, they denied all knowledge of the incident.”
12/10/1948 Air Intelligence Report #100-203-79 alluding to ghost rockets "It will be remembered that strange objects first appeared over the Scandinavian countries in 1946. The objects observed there had unusual range and unusual performance characteristics... When these incidents subsided, strange flying objects began to be observed at an increasing rate over the U.S."
Donald Keyhoe (right) on James Forrestal (left) and the 1948 sighting in ND by Thomas Gorman: Keyhoe: "A leaking balloon? More and more, I became convinced that Secretary Forrestal had persuaded some editors that it was their patriotic duty to conceal the answer, whatever it was" (copy)
Donald Keyhoe (right) on James Forrestal (left) and the 1948 sighting in KY by Thomas Mantell: "1. USAF was puzzled, and badly worried when the disks first were sighted in 1947. 2. USAF began to suspect the truth soon after Mantell’s death—perhaps even before. 3. Project 'Saucer' [/Sign] was set up to investigate and at the same time conceal from the public the truth about the saucers" (copy)
Donald Keyhoe (right) on James Forrestal (left) and the 1948 sighting in KY by Thomas Mantell: "4. During the spring of 1949 this policy, which had been strictly maintained by Forrestal, underwent an abrupt change ...1. The earth has been under periodic observation from another planet, or other planets, for at least two centuries. 2. This observation suddenly increased in 1947, following, the series of A-bomb explosions begun in 1945" (copy)
Rhodes photo discussed in USAF memo from Dec 1948 Preston Dennett: "on March 5, 1985, when the air force declassified Air Intelligence Report #100-203-79. Formerly 'Top Secret,' the report (originally dated December 10, 1948) presents an analysis of the current UFO situation at that time...Appendix C: 'Selected Reports of Flying Object Incidents.' Several current cases are mentioned, including the sighting by William Rhodes, which the air force conveniently 'forgot'"

2/14/68 F. Robert Naka, USAF chief reconnaissance scientist at MITRE Corporation; later Chief Scientist of the USAF (1975-1978) Shellenberger "Naka tells Robert Low that NORAD radars track UAP's 'coming in from outer space.' He states NORAD has already tracked such objects."
April 1963 Richard Feynman "I see around me I think that it is much more likely that the reports of flying saucers are the results of the known irrational characteristics of terrestrial intelligence rather than the unknown rational ethics of extraterrestrial intelligence"
1958-1959 Carl Sagan "In 1958, Sagan worked on the classified military Project A119, a USAF plan to detonate a nuclear warhead on the moon and document its effects. Sagan had Top Secret USAF clearance and NASA Secret clearance. An article published in the journal Nature revealed that Sagan had included the classified titles of two Project A119 papers in his 1959 application for a Berkely graduate scholarship. A follow-up letter to the journal by Leonard Reiffel confirmed Sagan's illegal leak"
1968 Hynek (left) meets with H.C. Cross after Jacques Vallee (right) discovers the "Pentacle Memo" Anthony Bragalia: "In 1968, Air Force UFO study scientist Dr. J. Allen Hynek approached Dr. Cross about the memo, which had been brought to Hynek's attention. Cross agreed to meet alone with Hynek to discuss it, but instead Cross brought with him 4 'colleagues'. When Hynek started reading from his notes about the memo, Cross snatched the paper out of Hynek's hands and said that it was an 'old story'"
2/3/66 Carl Sagan Dolan: "USAF convened an ad hoc committee to review Project Blue Book.. it included Carl Sagan... met for one day, received a briefing from Lt Col Hector Quintanilla, reviewed the Robertson Panel report of 1953, and studied a few UFO reports... endorsed Blue Book, despite its knowledge that most of the 10,000+ sightings had been investigated by a ghost of a staff... concluded that UFOs did not represent extraterrestrial technology... result was the Condon Committee"
January 1967 Edward Condon, University of Colorado physicist and namesake of the USAF Condon Committee (1968) "In late January 1967, Condon stated in a lecture that he thought the government should not study UFOs because the subject was 'nonsense'' adding, 'but I'm not supposed to reach that conclusion for another year.'"
1961 Carl Sagan Biographer: "Sagan published an article in 1961 in the journal Science on the atmosphere of Venus... in 1961 Harvard astronomers Fred Whipple and Donald Menzel offered Sagan the opportunity to give a colloquium at Harvard and subsequently offered him a lecturer position... Sagan instead asked to be made an assistant professor... Whipple and Menzel were able to convince Harvard... Sagan lectured, performed research, and advised graduate students ... from 1963 to 1968"
1960-1975 Donald Menzel, Harvard astrophysicist, ret. USN Lt Cdr and mentor to Sagan Dolan: "was the world's leading UFO debunker... closely tied to the intel community as a cryptologist, and had a long-standing association with NSA. A 1960 letter from Menzel to President-elect JFK mentioned his Top Secret clearance and 'some association' with the CIA. In the 1970s Menzel wrote that he 'was a consultant with Top Secret Ultra Clearance to the NSA.' Menzel and Vannevar Bush were also [WW2] friends"
7/29/68 Carl Sagan at Symposium on UFO's, U.S. House "Apparently what is now happening is that the Air Force surveillance radar is throwing away the data that is over relevance for this inquiry. In other words, if it sees something that is not on a ballistic trajectory, or not in orbit, it ignores it, it throws it in the garbage... if some method could be devised by the Air Force to save the output... it might be the least expensive way to significantly improve our information about these phenomena"
1963 earliest? USAF exerts pressure on Carl Sagan Steven Greer: "... he was best man at Carl Sagan's wedding. He personally witnessed... [Carl Sagan] as an asset for the intelligence community... they had some dirt on him, apparently some academic impropriety when he was doing his PhD thesis. They basically said: 'you'll be ruined or we'll make you rich and famous'... he said Carl aged 30 years in one month... he had to sell his soul"
1972 J. Allen Hynek Shellenberger: "J. Allen Hynek noted USAF Maj. Hector Quinanilla's deception that Project Blue Book had 'no radar cases which are unexplained'. Hynek provided several radar unidentifieds such as Goose Bay in 1951, Lakenheath in 1956, Shreveport in 1957 [in his 1972 book, The UFO Experience]"
Early Nov 1965 Condon Committee creation in response to 1965 UFO wave Dolan: "the air force Scientific Advisory Board met in Dallas to discuss... the idea of an independent study of the problem. Within a year, this led to the announcement of... Jacques Vallee [argued this was] “near proof” that the [USAF UFO policy] was more of a bungling than a conspiratorial nature... Could it be possible that after almost twenty years of investigation, the air force was still trying to determine what UFOs were?"
11/15/1962 Carl Sagan on scouts/moon bases Dolan: "presented a remarkable paper to the American Rocket Society, arguing that not only was space travel possible, but that other civilizations “must today be plying the spaces between the stars."...scouts may have visited the Earth a total of 10,000 over the full span of Earth’s history... There might even be a hidden base, perhaps on the far side of the moon...[was an] advisor to the U.S. military at the time on such matters as extraterrestrial life"

Pre-1965 (LeMay's retirement from USAF) Sen. Barry Goldwater (left), a retired USAF Maj. Gen., asks USAF Chief of Staff Curtis LeMay (right) about the "Blue Room" "I called Curtis LeMay and I said, 'General, I know we have a room at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where you put all this secret stuff. Can I go in there?' I've never heard him get mad, but he got mad as hell at me. Cussed me out. Said: 'don't ever ask me that question again.'"
10/26/62 Harald Malmgren. then 27-year old adviser to JFK "... the events around one missile test in 1962 that I worked on in my capacity as an advisor to the Joint Chief's. [Geoff Cruickshank] has done an excellent job of explaining the significance of the [Bluegill Triple Prime] test. It helps us understand why JFK, LBJ and soon after, I myself, all rushed to visit Los Alamos [after Bluegill Triple Prime]."
Harald Malmgren in 2024 "At the time [Curtis] LeMay made only a passing reference to UFOs, but I later discovered he had long been deeply investigating any info gathered about UFO phenomena... In retrospect years after: [he was] very knowledgeable"
10/26/62 Bluegill Triple Prime nuclear test on Johnston atoll Geoff Cruickshank: "If the object observed during the test was indeed a of non-human origin, its disruption by the explosion suggests that advanced technologies may still be vulnerable to certain human technology... deck logs document the recovery of various pieces of debris, some of which were described as 'anomalous'... USNS Point Barrow’s involvement is further complicated by the loss of its deck logs for the period"
10/16/62 to 10/28/62 (13 days) Cuban Missile Crisis The Bluegill Triple Prime atmospheric test on Johnston atoll that purportedly caused the crash of a nearby UAP occurred on day 10 of the Missile Crisis.
1/11/1965 DC oval sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "at 4:20 PM12 Army communications specialists in the Munitions Building at 19th Street and Constitution Avenue NW, saw 12 to 15 white, oval-shaped objects moving across the sky between 12,000 to 15,000 feet... tracked on radar, and 2 delta-wing jets were... easily outmaneuvered... reported in the Washington Star on January 13... the soldiers had been scheduled for an interview by a local TV station... Pentagon prevented witnesses from speaking"
1959 Aligns with Corso comments on CIA parapsychology Washington National Airport round sighting Dolan: "Robert Friend [told story of a] Maine woman who was in 'contact' with UFOs... [Canada] sent Wilbert Smith to investigate. The U.S. Navy also sent 2 officers, and eventually the CIA invited her to Langley... When others in the room asked for proof, the officer replied 'look out the window.' To everyone's astonishment, a UFO was plainly visible and was also being tracked by National Airport radar"
"Early 1960" through 1963 Lt. Col. Phillip Corso reunites with old boss, Lt. Gen. Arthur Trudeau at Army R&D office in the Pentagon (Art Bell 8:30 min) "I joined OCRD in early 1960... Trudeau created the foreign technology division of which I became its chief...large corporations were constantly coming to us for R&D money... ~$2 billion a year. Much was in RDT&E money...initial production cost of an item...military-industrial complex venture since its ramifications deeply involve national security"
Corso corroboration Vice Admiral Thomas Wilson, speaking to Eric Davis Oct 2002 ("Wilson-Davis Memo") Wilson: "Comparing story to what I learned at [special access program 'watch committee'] meeting is more than enough to believe Corso told truth about seeing 'alien' hardware, etc" Davis: "[Wilson] told me that he would deny meeting with me should I publish anything about it. I never published anything about our meeting but Ed Mitchell's unethical kids released his copy (covered by Ed's signed NDA)"
Corso held 9 "above top secret" clearances "Made available to me all matters within the government which included 'UFO' information" "Only" Trudeau, Eisenhower (final year in 1960), Eisenhower's manager, Charles Douglas "C.D." Jackson, and Eisenhower's special assistant (unnamed) knew about them. Implies JFK was not informed Later "filled in" Sen. Strom Thurmond (who had helped Trudeau get reinstated; Art Bell 16 mins), Sen. John Eastland and Speaker John McCormack. Thurmond denied it in 1997
Corso inherited Roswell file cabinet containing descriptions of the retrieved craft, autopsy reports, a super tough metallic material, a fiber-optic-like "harness", a "charred" wafer chip and a "night vision lens" On MJ-12 documents: "The mystery of the top secret White House report 'MAJIC' still remains a secret of the unknown. Although I was cleared, I never saw the report in this form at the NSC White House. However, many briefings could add up to a sìmilar conclusion"
Corso on CIA parapsychology program "CAUTION: CIA is working on what they call 'Parapsychology' and the Soviets on 'Psycho-tronic Technology.' They are skirting the edges of our approach. We should be careful not to get mixed up into their cauldron. We would be discredited and possibly stopped from proceeding"
Corso on spheres "We had reports of objects from a mother ship and we believe what was recovered were parts of sphere type probes. Usually 4 or 5 of these came from every saucer. They are for protection and reconnaissance. Our radar images of formations probably are these probes surrounding 1 or 2 flying saucers...dissolve in a transparent alignment of atoms...radar pass through; they disappear from our sight... gathered into the mother ship and are realigned for space travel... 25% questionable"
Corso speculating on luminosity, noiselessness, and magnetic effects "strong magnetic fields influenced the ìonised air at higher altitudes. This would explain their luminosity. Secondly, it would explain the noiselessness of UFO flight. Finally this assumption also explains the strong electrical and magnetic effects sometimes, but not always, observed in the vicinity of UFO's."
Corso on Herman Oberth (pictured bottom) "In 1972, Oberth said: '[UFO's fly with] artificial fields of gravity. This would explain the sudden changes of directions....also explain the piling up of these disks into a cylindrical or cigar-shaped mothership upon leaving the earth, because in this fashion only one field of gravity would be required for all disks'" Dolan: "Like William Lear, Townsend Brown, and Wilbert Smith, Oberth decided that UFOs were 'propelled by distorting the gravitational field'"
Corso on Roswell craft "inside was illuminated by a yellow-greenish light...appeared to emit from solid metal, possibly a variation of the atom alignment within the structure members of the craft... discovered early from small pieces. When a light was applied at one end the whole piece would light up and glow...No mention of refrigeration equipment... medical facilities except for a type of first aid kit...waste disposal facilities...rest or recreational facilities...no seams...rivets or weld joints"
Lt. Gen. Arthur Trudeau never wanted to come forward due to potential for UFO ridicule. He might have been worried about CIA in particular. (Art Bell 1 hour 13 min) Corso made Trudeau aware of his plans to come forward once Trudeau passed away. Trudeau passed away in 1991, after retiring in 1962
Corso knew Barry Goldwater but never told him of his UFO activity involvement in government (Art Bell 1 hour 22 min) Only told Sen. Strom Thurmond, Sen. John Eastland, and Speaker John McCormick
Corso recalling comments from German scientists, possibly Herman Oberth, Wernher von Braun, Hans Kohler "discussed this with German scientists and they were of the opinion that this was fact - the UFOs terrific acceleration and flashy disappearance and appearance is caused by exit and entry into a time dimension... I have not seriously considered time or dimensional travel which is another story. I have seen little evidence of this, but do not rule it out... arena for the future"
Corso recalling the existence of UFO reverse engineering programs run by USAF as well as the Nazis "I heard rumors that the Air Force was doing parallel work, but we never cross-fertilized because we kept it ourselves to protect our organization... [the Nazis were also doing parallel work]... the scientists actually told me this... people the caliber of von Braun and Oberth [were doing it]" (Art Bell 1 hour 5 min)
Corso recalling comments on electrical disturbances from atmospheric physicist James E. McDonald (University of Arizona) "In 1968, James E. McDonald said, 'There are so many instances in which close passage of an unidentified flying object led to radio and TV disturbances, that this particular mode of electromagnetic effect of UFO's seems incontrovertible'"
2/27/1960 Ret. CIA director (1947-1950) and Vice Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter in New York Times "It is time for the truth to be brought out in open Congressional hearings... behind the scenes, high-ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about the UFO's. But through official secrecy and ridicule, many citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense... to hide the facts, the Air Force has silenced its personnel"
8/22/1961 Ret. CIA director (1947-1950) Roscoe Hillenkoetter in letter to Congress "Acting with the majority of the NICAP Board of Governors, I urge immediate congressional action to reduce the dangers from secrecy about UFO's... Two dangers are steadily increasing: 1). The risk of accidental war, from mistaking UFO formations for a Soviet surprise attack. 2).The danger that the Soviet government may, in a critical moment, *falsely* claim the UFOs as secret Russian weapons"
Dolan on Hillenkoetter "from 1957 until 1962... sat at on the board of... the National Investigative Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP). For some reason, historians of American national security and the cold war do not find this interesting. Why, we may ask, did a CIA director who held the post for three years—during some of the most dramatic moments of the cold war— become interested in NICAP, and even make public statements regarding the need to end UFO secrecy?
1/1/1959 Wernher von Braun on the deflection of a USAF Juno 2 rocket from orbit "We find ourselves faced by powers which are far stronger than we had hitherto assumed, and whose base is at present unknown to us. More I cannot say at present. We are now engaged in entering into closer contact with those powers, and in six or nine months' time it may be possible to speak with more precision on the matter" Dolan: "he said this... in Germany during the holiday season... never followed up on it"
Corso recalling comments from Herman Oberth on craft crashes in Germany and Russia. as well as comments from Wilbert Smith on a crash in Canada "there was crash in Germany from what Oberth told me and there were also some crashes in Russia. Wilbur Smith, the Canadian genius on electromagnetism, brought us a piece of metal that he got from a down flying saucer in Canada" (Art Bell 38 min)
1959 Project Horizon Corso: "In 1958, the liberal elements in the U.S. policy apparatus strongly recommended civilian control of all space activities. As such, the [DoD] quickly killed 'Project Horizon', a military colony on the moon" "There's 50 pages in the book, but the project itself was 310 pages. In fact, I had a hand in de-classifying it" (Art Bell 40 mins)
1959 Project Horizon and Lt. Gen. Arthur Trudeau Corso: "[Trudeau] started Project Horizon, a [proposed] military landing on the moon, in 1959... If Edwin Teller could be called 'father of the 'H' bomb', Gen. Trudeau could be called the 'Father of the ballistic missile'"
1959 Project Horizon Corso: "It was the forerunner of NASA's moon landing. NASA came into existence in 1958 and it [had] civilian control and [ensured] peaceful uses of space exploration. They could not believe that an enemy could have other thoughts or not fit into our thinking or planning"
7/1/1960 Wilbert Smith recalling 1960 Canadian crash in Nov 1961 (passed away in Dec 1962) Dolan: "had handled 'quite a bit' of UFO hardware and some 'very strange metal...speculating that what we have is a portion of a very large device which came into this solar system... we don’t know when...but it had been in space a long time before it came to Earth; we can tell by the micrometeorites embedded in the surface...don’t know whether it was a few years ago—or a few hundred"
Corso on supposed moon activity (Steckling was an airline pilot and amateur astronomer) "There is ample evidence of alien activity on the Moon, 122 photographs from NASA's science data center were examined and analyzed by photographic experts with startling findings. The author of 'Alien Activity of the Moon', Fred Steckling, was a trained observer in astronomical studies. Moongate, the NASA military cover-up book contains 20 color photographs of U.S. astronauts on the moon"
Corso on Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) / "Star Wars" precursor program "Plans were made for a military presence in space and a study of their bases. Star Wars was the outcome."
Corso on "camouflage" "We learned how to camouflage our efforts, especially those attributed to an alien power. Unless we covered this assist we would have been labeled as 'kooks' and lost our budget and our organization would have been stripped completely and made ineffective... ...many [internal skeptics] were Soviet agents. This has been confirmed by a high KGB official... had to be alert, because Stalin had an interest and they were constantly probing U.S. Army Intelligence and U.S. Army R&D"
Jan 1965 Curtis LeMay autobiography comments on UFO's Dolan: "LeMay’s autobiographical 'Mission with LeMay' appeared in 1965... stated that he was 'asked about flying saucers all the time.' Unable to quote classified information, he gave 'the straightest answers' he could. Contrary to what the public perceived, wrote LeMay, the air force was not deliberately trying to debunk UFOs"
Jan 1965 Curtis LeMay autobiography comments on UFO's LeMay: "In fact: There is no question about it. These were things which we could not tie in with any natural phenomena known to our investigators... There were some cases we could not explain. Never could."
8/7/1966 Washington Star article "by Lt. Col. Charles Cooke, a retired air force officer and former intel officer in WWII...had analyzed firsthand UFO encounters by air force pilots, which showed strong evidence supporting the extraterrestrial hypothesis. He strongly criticized Project Blue Book. Shortly after this, there was a renewed effort in Congress to break air force UFO censorship. Rep. Edward Hutchinson had already introduced a resolution, HR 866, for an investigation of Project Blue Book"
1966 1 Day Congressional Hearing Dolan: "Contrast the management of the problem by the military/intelligence community with the failure of NICAP to exploit its opportunity. For ten years, NICAP had pressed for congressional hearings on UFOs. Finally, amid the wave of 1966, Congress relented: a one-day hearing, to which NICAP was not even invited"
March 1966 Congressman Gerald Ford "I think there may be substance in some of these reports and because I believe the American people are entitled to a more thorough explanation than has been given them by the air force to date"
Wilbert Smith parapsychology beliefs Dolan: "Smith had long asserted privately that he had established a telepathic communication with the aliens. He did not publicize this or attempt to profit by this belief, but believed it sincerely"
Late 1962 CIA Director John McCone's level of knowledge on UFO's Dolan: "a full year into John McCone’s tenure as DCI, he remained unaware of the MKUltra program, or of the agency’s connection to the Mafia. Richard Helms, who did know about such things, simply neglected to tell him. This is yet another lesson in trying to understand the nature of the UFO cover-up, a slippery entity if there ever was one. What did McCone know about UFOs? We don’t know."
Summer 1962 Harald Malmgren, then ~27, moves to DC "White House and [DoD] officials invited him to join the [JFK] Admin...moved to [DC] to join the Institute for Defense Analyses (advisers to the Office of the Secretary of Defense), serving as head of the Economics Group of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Weapons Systems Evaluation Group (WSEG), in the Pentagon, and as aide to [SecDef] Robert McNamara. Functioning as liaison to National Security Council...became known...as one [his] 'Whiz Kids'"
Summer 1962 through 1964 (?) Harald Malmgren on role assisting Joint Chiefs "When I got a personal call from [Nat. Security Advisor] McGeorge Bundy to invite me to come to work for the Admin as part of McNamara’s team, I was immediately excited...In formal paper work I was hired to work at the Institute for Defense Analyses, but that was a formality as my assignments were to do official tasks for the Joint Chiefs and the Secretary of Defense on a variety of defense issues“
Summer 1962 through 1964 (?) Harald Malmgren on role assisting Joint Chiefs "It was an exciting time. I saw from the inside how decisions are made, how one can influence policy and how an intellectual advisor can have an impact. “Given my youth relative to the military and civilian officials I would be working with, I was mentored by a senior member of the Admin not to assert answers and lecture senior officials about the validity of my answers. Instead, I was urged to frame new questions"
10/16/62 to 10/28/62 (13 days) Harald Malmgren on Missile Crisis work (1/3) "A good example was the Cuban missile crisis, where the Admin had to confront difficult life and death questions. In the course of my involvement with very senior military officers, I focused discussions on the importance of rethinking about threat of nuclear weapons and negotiation"
10/16/62 to 10/28/62 (13 days) Harald Malmgren on Missile Crisis work (2/3) "The problem was specific to threat from Soviet nuclear weapons in a threatening space. Would this warrant unlimited nuclear war? Why would you strike Moscow and risk mutually assured destruction of the two nations? Who then would you negotiate with? Why would the Russians want to strike Washington? Whom would they have to negotiate with?"
10/16/62 to 10/28/62 (13 days) Harald Malmgren on Missile Crisis work (3/3) "It became obvious that less than all out military responses would be required and we should begin to contemplate escalation and negotiation in a more limited military response. As a result of intense debate we found ourselves in need for incremental decisions dependent on the specific nature of the specific challenges"
1963-1964 Harald Malmgren after Missile Crisis (1/2) "After the Cuban missile crisis a whole new range of analytical work was generated to deal with escalation management and deterrence on a scale far less than all or nothing MAD.” I was part of small team which began looking at the potential role of defense against ballistic missiles"
1963-1964 Harald Malmgren after Missile Crisis (1/2) "I raised the key question of the cost of the competition: as you built defenses, what would it cost the adversary to assure that they could overcome the defenses you deployed? By building defenses, you raised the cost significantly in terms of building offensive forces. As part of that effort, we travelled around Europe to meet with senior European defense officials"
Jan 1965 Harald Malmgren leaves DoD role to join join senior staff of the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), Executive Office of the President. Requested to do so by National Security Advisor McGeorge Bundy
Feb 1962 Ret. CIA Director Roscoe Hillenkoetter collaborates with Congress Dolan: "In February, a plan was germinating among congressmen to end UFO secrecy using a statement by Roscoe Hillenkoetter, by far NICAP’s most prestigious member. Keyhoe was involved in these machinations and met with 'a congressman who had strongly supported Karth' to discuss the strategy of bringing the UFO matter to the congressional floor...congressman confirmed to Keyhoe that Hillenkoetter would be a key person involved"
Feb 1962 Donald Keyhoe's interactions with Navy exposes Hillenkoetter plan to CIA Dolan: "'That navy call,' said [pseudonymous pilot], 'raised hell.' Less than an hour after his inquiry, he said, two CIA agents were at his door and gave him 'the third degree.'...demanded to know who wanted Brent’s address and why. Morton ended up telling the CIA agents everything about the congressional plan, including Hillenkoetter’s role. 'For heaven’s sake,” Morton told Keyhoe, 'don’t try to call or see me again'"
Feb 1962 Hillenkoetter quits UFO effort Dolan: "Immediately after the [Navy CIA] incident, Keyhoe received a letter from Hillenkoetter which announced his resignation from NICAP and stated that he decided not to proceed with any UFO investigation or announcement...Keyhoe knew Hillenkoetter, his former Annapolis classmate well. Hillenkoetter had been 'absolutely convinced that the UFO cover-up should be exposed'"
Feb 1962 Hillenkoetter quits UFO effort Dolan: 'The only answer,' decided Keyhoe, 'was persuasion at a very high level'...The only question is why would Hillenkoetter be pressured, and what means were used... it seems unlikely that Hillenkoetter would have backed down following a mere request"
April 1960 Eisenhower asks John Foster Dulles about "scaling down" secret programs Dolan: "worried over the Frankenstein nature of America's military state, Eisenhower asked the dying Foster Dulles, 'How are we going to scale our programs down?; If we did not, suggested Ike, 'in the long run, there is nothing but war—if we give up all hope of a peaceful solution'"
7/1/1960 Wilbert Smith recalling 1960 Canadian crash in Nov 1961 (passed away in Dec 1962) Dolan: "according to Wilbert Smith from an interview in late 1961, the 'Canadian Research Group' handling UFOs recovered 'one mass of very strange metal.' There were about three thousand pounds of it, said Smith, and the Canadians did 'a tremendous amount of detective work on this metal'"
First half 1960 Keyhoe and NICAP meet with Congressman John McCormack (who became Speaker in 1962 and was a friend of Col. Phillip Corso) (Pictured with JFK in Sept 1962) Dolan: "Keyhoe spoke at length with Congressman John McCormack, urging him to consider holding another congressional investigation. According to Keyhoe, McCormack believed that UFOs were “real” and not familiar objects or delusions. In June, NICAP sent a confidential report to members of Congress outlining its accumulated evidence"
7/15/1960 Senate and House Committees meet with USAF Dolan: "Senate Preparedness Committee and House Science and Astronautics Committee requested an air force briefing on the UFO program...CIA also asked to attend...Richard Smart (House Armed Services), Spencer Bereford (House Science), Richard Hines, and Frank Hammit, and two men from the CIA (Richard Payne, technical advisor, and John Warner, assistant for legislative liaison to Allen Dulles)"
7/15/1960 Senate and House Committees meet with USAF Dolan: "Air force representatives included Tacker, Friend, Hynek, and three generals. This meeting was somewhat antagonistic, especially because of Smart, who charged the air force with withholding information and said he expected to be informed of all significant sightings. Still, the air force succeeded in preventing open hearings and avoiding significant changes"
12/18/1960 Brookings Institution report "Proposed Study on the Implications of Peaceful Space Activities for Human Affairs" "It is possible that if the intelligence of these creatures were sufficiently superior to ours, they might choose to have little if any contact with us"

March 1961 Failed attempt at hearing by House Majority Leader John McCormack (Pictured with JFK in Sept 1962) Dolan: "House Majority Leader McCormack privately told Donald Keyhoe he had urged a UFO investigation by the Science and Astronautics Committee. Pressure was rising in Congress against UFO secrecy. In May, Congress announced a new UFO investigation to be headed by Congressman Joseph Karth of Minnesota. Among other things, the plan called for a statement by Hillenkoetter"
Aug 1961 Failed attempt at hearing by Rep Overton Brooks (LA), House Science Committee chair Dolan: "Meanwhile, Sen. Overton Brooks met privately with Hillenkoetter and Keyhoe. According to Keyhoe, Brooks asked them to bring a “cross section of [NICAP's] strongest and best-documented evidence, also proof of official censorship...Overton Brooks s uddenly became ill and died. Brooks's successor was Congressman George P. Miller of California, who stated that he would not order UFO hearings"
9/27/1961 Lawrence Preston Gise Obituary: "Came to AEC's Albuquerque Operations Office as deputy manager in 1961, and in 1964 was appointed by Congress to head AEC's seven-state, 26,000-employee operations including Sandia, Los Alamos, and Lawrence Livermore national laboratories ... U.S. Navy' distinguished service award in 1967 for the Albuquerque Operations Office's contributions to the Polaris missile program"
Feb 1962 CIA Deputy Director of Plans Richard Bissell Jr. quits the CIA after Bay of Pigs failure (Pictured in March 1962 with JFK, who awarded him the National Security Medal, calling his contributions "unique") JFK had offered him a role as head of CIA Science & Technology as consolation to being fired
March 1962 through September 1964 Richard Bissell Jr. serves as EVP and then President of the Institute for Defense Analysis, an Arlington, VA think tank serving the Joint Chiefs of Staff "federally-funded independent research organization responsive to the U.S. government on issues of national security. Bissell indicates in his autobiography that he encountered considerable obstacles and frustration in attempting to reshape IDA before he was eventually asked to resign."
Early 1963 Richard Bissell (left) calls Harald Malmgren (right) "a few months after this series of episodes... the Missile Crisis, Los Alamos... Bissell called me up and said 'I'd like to spend some time talking to you... maybe Friday afternoons after work would be good.' I said 'Sure'.... I knew who he was... he was in the news a lot [with the U2]... I knew he was at the center of all the scientific technology stuff. I didn't know at that time his ill portion... Bay of Pigs"
Early 1963 Harald Malmgren (right) recalling Richard Bissell (left) comments: "I talked to everyone around you... you're almost certainly on a curve where you'll continue to be at that level so there are things you need to know... it was not only about what we still were calling UFOs at that time but it was about CIA operations worldwide the complexity...times when the president and CIA were not working in in concert"
Early 1963 Harald Malmgren (right) recalling Richard Bissell (left) comments: "it all went down simply to they were opposed to anything which threatened their control and these unidentified UFOs... they presented forces that were beyond CIA's knowledge or control and they interfered perhaps with what CIA was doing with private industry. There was a lot of interaction between Lockheed Martin and CIA where they would show up around specific atomic testing or around specific technology development"
Early 1963 Harald Malmgren (right) recalling Richard Bissell (left) comments: "He said: "This is real. We don't know these phenomena. Also, we don't know what the Russians and Chinese and any anyone else knows'... that itself is threatening... at that time China was not as threatening to us as Russia we always overrated Russia in my judgment and we underrated the Chinese obsession to focus [on the technology race]"
Early 1963 Harald Malmgren (right) recalling Richard Bissell (left) comments: "He just wanted me to know that there were all these conflicting forces of power in play and that they had influence on leadership in many countries not just Washington. And it tends to run deep into local politics depending on where the interests were. He didn't mention Arkansas [cocaine trafficking at Mena Airport], but when I reflect back I probably was on his mind"
Early 1963 Harald Malmgren (right) recalling Richard Bissell (left) comments: "He said... you have need to know the background how did it end up that Truman transferred that that object from Italy the steps getting there was arranged by Alan Dulles"
1962 to 1963 Harald Malmgren (right) on JFK, RFK and Sargent Shriver interactions "my interaction with JFK and Bobby was very limited but I was somehow part of the clan because Sargent Shriver, the brother-in-law, talked to me all the time. Shriver proposed me for I don't know several different jobs and I declined each one"
1962 to 1986 Harald Malmgren (right) on Ambassador Antoly Dobrynin xyz
Oct/Nov 1962 Harald Malmgren (right) on pressing the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) and Lawrence Preston Gise (right) to get information on Bluegill Triple Prime crash "I pressed [the AEC] hard... you have to let me know what took place. They said: 'Well, for that you have to come down to Los Alamos.' I didn't know [it was Lawrence Preston Gise] that I was talking to ... somebody at the [AEC]. I said: 'you know I need to know. I'm going to decide what I need to know.'"
Shortly after 10/26/1962 Harald Malmgren (right) recalling that JFK and McBundy (both left) likely read the same report he received on Bluegill Triple Prime "I got a report because I'm in charge of this new project. The same report that went to JFK. Now, you can assume JFK... it was read by Bundy: that's his job. And I knew if it it must have been read by McNamara and John McNaughton, the general counsel, because they were all interactive. And almost certainly LBJ because he's the Vice President"
Oct/Nov 1962 Harald Malmgren (right) recalling comments from Lawrence Preston Gise (right) on the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) "Gise said: 'I have this letter saying that I can brief you... the test details are controlled by Naval Intelligence.' ... he said they don't share everything with the Navy Department. They are an autonomous entity they are more secure than any other intelligence agency. He said: 'Just be aware the mighty CIA is not on their fully approved list to circulate"
Oct/Nov 1962 Harald Malmgren (right) recalling comments from Lawrence Preston Gise (right) on recovered debris "He reached for some [round rocks] sitting on his desk [and said]: 'these are things that have come down.'... he said: "handle it"... it felt weird because it didn't feel anything we know... the color of something in space... depends on the light in the room ... the objects were heavy... didn't know how they were retrieved... 'I have it on my desk just you know as an example'"
Oct/Nov 1962 More Malmgren/Gise: "I said: 'what have we learned? ... pertain[s] to designing a missile system. What kinds of things can interfere with it? Who else is studying this?' ... We feared Russia's science more than China He explained [it was not] the first case of [UAPs]...didn't go into the history I said: "So you're telling me what the Navy says I can't know?" He said: "Yes. And you probably you saw the original... My bet is that that part of the test the video will have been scrubbed."
Oct/Nov 1962 More Malmgren: Michels: "Malmgren confirmed that the entire Bluegill shoot down was an attempt to down a UFO. Malmgren explicitly told this to Pippa, his daughter, and Jeffrey Cruickshank. He also told this to Senate intelligence staffer Kirk McConnell McConnell: "He had been told directly by Bissell is that we downed a UFO that was monitoring closely monitoring that test and it tumbled into the ocean. And that the Navy picked it up"
Oct/Nov 1962 The link between Gise (left) and Bissell (right) Michels: "[Malmgren] needed to get fully read in. That's when he received a full briefing on otherworldly technologies by Richard Bissell"
1965 Senator RFK in letters to constituents Letter to Ralph Rankow on August 15:"If it were desirable to hold congressional hearings on the question of unidentified flying objects, I would certainly agree that they should be open to the public" Letter to Robert Barrow on October 2: "I am keeping myself abreast of information developed on this subject"

1945-1946: military and intel community encounters with foo fighters and ghost rockets
События
1/2/1945 NYT foo fighter article Dolan: "New York Times published a story on foo fighters on January 2, 1945, under the title, 'Balls of Fire Stalk U.S. Fighters in Night Assaults over Germany'... suggested German 'sky weapons' as the culprit. None of the American investigators knew that the Germans and Japanese had encountered the same unusual phenomena"
1945 OSS investigation on foo fighters Dolan: "At first its investigators believed the sightings to be German experimental craft, but soon discounted that theory. William J. Donovan and his staff apparently settled on the notion that the objects, if that is what they could be called, were unusual but harmless... no one really knows what the military or OSS thought about the strange foo fighters"
1945 Foo fighters during WWII Dolan: "Maj. Donald E. Keyhoe collected foo fighter reports and said that 'hundreds' of foo fighters were encountered by American, British, German, and Japanese pilots. One of his sources claimed to have a dozen or so reports that Pacific gunners fired at strange objects circling their ships" Corso: "WWII pilots are resurfacing the 'Foo-fighters' incidents and want to know what the Military Intelligence determined in Europe and the South Pacific"
8/13/1946 Ret. Gen. James Doolittle arrives in Sweden as a private citizen working for Shell Oil Dolan: "Upon consulting with the highest Swedish authorities on the ghost rockets, they learned that some objects had been tracked on radar... New York Times mentioned that Undersecretary of State Dean Acheson was personally interested in the matter... Most likely, Doolittle was acting on behalf of the U.S. government"
1945 Gen. James Doolittle investigation on foo fighters Dolan: "The U.S. 8th Air Force, under the command of Doolittle conducted a study, although no copy of it has come to light. The report is said to have concluded that the sightings were possibly Axis experimental weapons, static electricity charges, misidentification of ordinary sights, or some kind of 'mass hallucination'
1946 Swedish report on ghost rockets, declassified in 1983 (Allan Vougt, Defense Minister pictured) "approximately 100 impacts have been reported, together with fragments from 30 of these. All have been investigated by the Defense Research Institution. It has been impossible to make certain that any of the objects originated as parts of projectiles or rockets; they have generally been attributed to other sources"
8/23/1946 British report on ghost rockets (A.V. Alexander, Defense Minister pictured) Dolan: "British radar experts, back from Sweden, submitted secret reports to the British government on the origin of the rockets. Their conclusion: the objects were not of Soviet origin. The scientific advisor to MI6, Prof. R. V. Jones, found it doubtful that “the Russians were supposedly cruising their flying bombs at more than twice the range that the Germans had achieved.”
8/1/1946 Tampa, FL ghost cylinder sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "Capt. Jack E. Puckett was flying a C-47 transport plane 30 miles from Tampa, Florida. Suddenly, he and his copilot saw a large object speeding toward them on a collision course... long cylindrical shape, which Puckett described as 'twice the size of a B-29 bomber.' He claimed to see a row of portholes. The object trailed a stream of fire half its length, and disappeared at the incredible speed of 1,500 to 2,000 mph"
May 1945 (a few days before V-E Day) Ohrdorf, Germany (40 miles west of Berlin) round sighting (Grok rendering) Lynn R. Momo: "[yellowish-white foo] brighter than any star, or even the planet Venus... passed completely from horizon to horizon in about two seconds. Its speed was enormous...[silent and flew at no more than 2,000 feet”

March/April 1945 LTJG Clarence "Bud" Clem, USN, F6F Hellcat pilot, writing in April 2009 "We experienced an unknown object over the Hanford [Ordnance Works site in WA] in March/April, 1945. I did not fly after the object, as two members of our squadron did, but I did assist in trying to determine what was going on.... He just said it was so bright that you could hardly look directly at it. As he closed on it, it took off to the northwest at a high rate of speed. No maneuvers, just a straight-line."
8/9/1945 "Fat Man" bomb is dropped on Nagasaki. Its plutonium was manufactured at the Hanford site
1/23/1945 4th Air Force HQ to Commanding General of the Army Air Forces "Resulting from an unidentified aircraft flying over the Hanford [site] at Pasco, WA on at least 3 nights in the past month, the 13th Naval District has made arrangements for Naval Air Station, Pasco, to employ both radar and fighter aircraft in attempting interception of these unidentified aircraft... one incident has occurred since that date in which radar contact was made: attempted night interception again failed"

4/16/1966 Portage County, OH orb mass sightings "Just before 5:30 A.M.—nearly thirty minutes into the chase—in Salem, Ohio, two police officers near the border with Pennsylvania, who had been listening to the chase on the radio, saw the object. They described it as 'a bright ball,' much larger than a jet, of unvarying brightness in the distance. They also saw three jets following it." The chase inspired "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"
10/20/69 Brig. Gen. Carroll Bolender (happened to be mission director for Apollo 11 three months before) Alejandro Rojas: "In a memo dated October 20, 1969, Brigadier General Carroll H. Bolender noted that “reports of unidentified flying objects which could affect national security are made in accordance with JANAP 146 or Air Force Manual 55-11, and are not part of the Blue Book system.” The memo noted that the most critical cases did not go to Project Blue Book at all"
June/July 1971 USS JFK orb in Caribbean Sea (Grok rendering) Shellenberger: "Yeoman Third Class James M. Kopf is on the USS JFK in the Caribbean Sea completing a readiness exercise when communications messages begin coming in garbled. Radar, compass and electrical systems stop working. The crew goes outside and sees a large, pulsating orange sphere sitting silently above the ship for 20 minutes. Two days later, Capt. Ferdinand B. Koch tells the crew that the events are to be considered classified"
4/24/1964 Socorro, NM oval sighting (Wiki rendering) Dolan: "[Police Sergeant Lonnie] Zamora moved quickly back to his car... the object began to roar, a flame appeared on its underside... oval in shape and very smooth. Although he saw no windows or doors, he did notice an insignia with red lettering"
4/30/1964 Hollomon AFB in NM, oval/egg sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "according to APRO, the pilot of a B-57 bomber from Holloman AFB radioed to his control tower that he was watching an 'egg-shaped, white' UFO with markings that matched the one at Socorro. As he continued to observe the UFO, it landed on the base."
4/18/1962 NY to UT to NV oval chase (Grok rendering) Dolan: "red, glowing oval was seen moving west very rapidly over Oneida, NY... tracked on radar, as it passed across the country, Air Defense Command alerted all bases along its path, and at least 2 air force bases—Luke AFB [in AZ] and Nellis AFB in NV —sent jet interceptors after it. Why pursue a meteor? entire sighting—from NY to NV—lasted 32 minutes. ... an average speed of 4,500 mph, well below the slowest speed ever recorded for a meteor"
4/26/1964 New Madera, NM oval sighting (Wiki rendering) Dolan: "Orlando Gallegos saw a metallic, oval-shaped object on the ground... blue flames circle the bottom... local police captain, Martin Vigil, reported scorch marks and 4 imprints"
5/21/1962 Buenos Aires oval sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "CIA files recorded a “most extraordinary” sighting over Bahia Blanca, south of Buenos Aires, witnessed by many people on May 21. A strange luminous object hung as though suspended for several minutes, then quickly disappeared. A photographer took two pictures, showing the object to appear as a “luminous oval.” A FOIA request by CAUS failed to obtain the photo."
9/24/59 Redmond, OR round/flat sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "At 5:18 AM, 6 F-102 jet fighters were scrambled from Portland to intercept... changed from bright white to reddish-orange.. the object squelched its 'tongues of flame,' emitted a fiery exhaust, shot up into the air at an incredible speed, and disappeared into the clouds at 14,000 feet ... for 2 hours afterward, the unknown object continued to register on radar, performing high-speed maneuvers at altitudes between 6,000 and 54,000 feet"
March 1967 "Cuban jet incident" sphere sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "radar controllers reported a UFO... moving at 660 mph and traveling at 30,000 feet. Two MIG-21s were scrambled...bright metallic sphere with no visible markings...[after getting missile lock], wingman screamed into the radio that the flight leader’s jet had 'disintegrated'... Homestead AFB, was monitoring the incident...NSA then ordered [Homestead] to ship all data to NSA and to list the Cuban loss as an 'equipment malfunction"
4/23/1964 Lt. Col. Hector Quintanilla, Blue Book, writing in classified article in "Studies in Intelligence" (declassified via FOIA in 1981) "no doubt that Zamora saw an object which left quite an impression on him. There is no question about his reliability...He is puzzled by what he saw and frankly, so are we. This is the best-documented case on record, and still we have been unable, in spite of a thorough investigation, to find the vehicle or other stimulus that scared Zamora to point of panic"
Quintanilla's public ridicule of Zamora and Hynek's "flip" from skepticism Dolan: "Publicly, Quintanilla debunked and even ridiculed the story. Philip Klass came into town years later and decided the whole thing was a tourism-related hoax. No one took Klass seriously, and no evidence for a hoax ever emerged. Hynek later wrote that the case strongly affected him. It also forced NICAP to reconsider its position on occupant sightings"
1/5/1965 Naval Air Station Patuxent River (MD) sighting (no shape given) Dolan: "the navy disclosed that two UFOs had been tracked on radar at the Naval Air Test Center in Maryland. One had made a sharp turn at 4,800 mph. The air force, which was working hard to debunk as many reports as quickly as possible, decided to do something. Therefore, Blue Book chief Hector Quintanilla went to Richmond for a debunking tour. Not a single UFO report was genuine, he told reporters"
1/27/1965 Hampton, VA sighting (no shape given) Dolan: "On January 27, near Hampton, Virginia, two NASA engineers, one a former air force pilot, saw a UFO descend with flashing lights. One of them told NICAP that the object zigzagged to a brief landing, then rapidly climbed out of sight"
9/3/1965 Exeter, NH, round sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "horses and dogs on the farm became restless. [Police officer & woman] saw...silent, brilliant, and roundish [object]...wobbled toward them 'like a leaf fluttering from a tree.' Red light bathed...hovered near the police car about 300 hundred feet away, 100 hundred feet in the air...too bright to make out any definite shape, but the 2 clearly saw pulsating red lights that dimmed from left to right then right to left... another patrolman saw"
Nov 1965 Blue Book and Exeter, NH, round sighting Dolan: "In late November, Quintanilla sent an undated and unpostmarked letter to [officers] Bertrand and Hunt, which explained the Exeter sighting as a highaltitude military exercise that occurred between midnight and 2 A.M. (giving the date of September 2, 1965). He stated the case was still in the process of final evaluation"
Oct 1965 Pease AFB (NH) staff on Exeter, NH, round sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "John Fuller published his article on the Exeter encounter in the Saturday Review... Before publication, Fuller wrote to his editors that reliable, but off-the-record information from the Pease AFB in Portsmouth indicates frequent radar blips and fighters are constantly scrambled to pursue these objects... Fuller theorized that the air force impotence against UFOs might be the underlying reason for the stonewalling"
4/22/1966 Blue Book and Portage County orb sighting Dolan: "On April 22, Blue Book announced the solution to the Portage County sighting: the officers had first seen an Echo satellite; after it had moved out of sight, Spaur had mistaken the planet Venus for the same object. When Quintanilla phoned Spaur’s superior, Portage County Sheriff Ross Dustman, to give him this explanation, Dustman actually laughed out loud"
April 1963 Yale Scientific Magazine "Based upon unreliable and unscientific surmises as data, the air force develops elaborate statistical findings which seem impressive to the uninitiated public, unschooled in the fallacies of the statistical method. One must conclude that the highly publicized periodic air force pronouncements based upon unsound statistics serve merely to misrepresent the true character of UFO phenomena"
12/24/1959 USAF IG to base commanders (Released by Hillenkoetter Feb 1960) "[UFO's]—sometimes treated lightly by the press and referred to as 'flying saucers' —must be rapidly and accurately identified as serious USAF business in the ZI [Interior Zone]...Technical and defense considerations will continue to exist in this area.. [investigators sent out from bases] should be equipped with binoculars, camera, Geiger counter, magnifying glass, and a source for containers in which to store samples"

And this type accounts for about 50%... all been seen to accelerate rapidly, to be able to stop, to be able to turn rapidly... hover at will, anywhere they want to go"
1950 John Northrop, Northrop Corp founder (founded 1939), speaking in 1974 "Our chief test pilot, Max Stanley... was making a trip back from Albuquerque, to LA, to Hawthorne to our plant there. 1948 Maj. Gen. Robert B. Landry, USAF, aide to Harry Truman (Pictured in Feb 1952) "I was directed to report quarterly to the President after consulting with Central Intelligence people, as to whether or not any UFO incidents received by them could be considered as having any strategic threatening implications at all. We are seeing these objects from what appear to be space altitudes and coming down at a high speed and just stopping in mid air. And then flying arround and going straight back up."
6/25/21 Office of the Director on National Intelligence report: "Preliminary Assessment: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena" "Some UAP appeared to remain stationary in winds aloft, move against the wind, maneuver abruptly, or move at considerable speed, without discernable means of propulsion. In a small number of cases, military aircraft systems processed radio frequency (RF) energy associated with UAP sightings."
7/15/2019 USS Omaha off the coast of San Diego "For 2 hours [at night], the crew detected on multiple sensor systems unknown objects that surrounded the ship. One of the objects, a self-illuminated sphere at least 6 feet in diameter, flew alongside the Omaha for an extended period and was observed through a thermal sensor in the ship’s Combat Information Center (CIC)... Jeremy Corbell released that Navy video and says similar events were reported by 8 other navy ships in the same area over 3 days"
Corso agreed in 1997 that a "government within the government" likely still exists (Art Bell 1 hour 17 min) "...huge organization... 'leave the government alone it'll cover itself up'... That's true. That's what happened it happened on my POW reports... I sent from Japan to Kissinger...we found them later. People didn't want to do anything with them. When you touch UFOs, people run and hide for some reason. I know and I guess it's still going on because I've been attacked... minor attacks"
7/26/2023 David Grusch, David Fravor and Ryan Graves testify to Congress about crash retrievals and first-hand sightings of UAP's .
Corso said in 1997 that he would have given UFO topic testimony to Congress had it invited him. Mentioned political downside and lack of will at the time. (Art Bell 1 hour 35 min) In 1992, Corso testified to Congress about knowledge of forgotten Korean War POW's from his experiences in the Eisenhower White House See C-SPAN archival video
Corso was not sure in 1997 if the Army Foreign Tech division still exists and is still "seeding technology" (Art Bell 1 hour 17 min) "I really I can't say. I'm not clear anymore and I haven't been in contact for a while,although... people in uniform just told me a week ago it is still going on"

Imagery description of orbs over the ocean (Grok rendering) "On USG networks, there exists daytime FMV and daytime-FLIR footage of a formation of ~12 metallic orbs skimming the ocean surface at high-speed before dispersing in multiple directions. The rapid and agile maneuvering of the metallic orbs were incompatible with known aerospace vehicles and were between 3-6 meters in diameters... flew in a tight 'cuboid' formation"
Imagery description of oval near a coastal facility (Grok rendering) "On USG networks, there exists FLIR footage of asmall-medium oval UAP flying at high speed and low to the surface... begins as routine surveillance of a sensitive coastal facility, when the oval UAP rapidly comes into frame as it flies above coastal facilities... then makes a rapid turn"
Imagery description of tic-tac near a naval vessel (Grok rendering) "Tic-Tac Detected by Space Asset in Proximity of Vessel. On USG networks, there exists OPIR imagery and MASINT of a Tic-Tac UAP transiting through an area of the Atlantic Ocean... maneuvers at an altitude at or near local cloud cover... transits the ocean. No observed reaction is seen to come from the vessel, but its proximity in time and space to the trajectory of this UAP suggests foreknowledge of the event"
Human intel description from an F-22 incident (Grok rendering) "Upon vectoring towards the UAPs, a smaller formation of the metallic orbs accelerated at rapid speed towards the F-22, which was unable to establish radar locks on the presume-hostile UAPs... broke trajectory and attempted to evade but was intercepted and boxed in by approximately 3-6 UAPs... surrounded by the presumed-hostile UAPs... was forced out of mission area under the escort of the UAP formation"
Human intel description from an air base incident (Grok rendering) "At a military airfield... ground personnel reported a lengthy, low-altitude intrusion late at night by a small, spherical UAP... appearing as a blurry sphere around which light was distorted or "bent"... misty volume of distorted light... reported eyestrain, headaches, and a feeling of unease or dread while observing this 'dark sphere'"
Human intel description from an aircraft carrier incident (Grok rendering) "Close encounter by CVN Flight Deck Personnel... spherical UAP of medium-large size... orange-red sphere maneuvering at high altitude above the CVN... rapidly descended from high altitude to a position directly above the flight deck (100-200 yards)... matched speed with the underway CVN for an uncertain period... did not illuminate the ocean or the flight deck of the CVN"
Immaculate Constellation dataset "directly informed by reviewing over 400 defense HUMINT reports on encounters by USG personnel from 1991 to 2022... this dataset is not exhaustive: other HUMINT data sources exist... the most common UAP shapes reported were spheres/orbs, discs/saucers, ovals/tic-tacs, triangles, boomerang/arrowhead and irregular/organic. The triangles/boomerangs/arrowhead shapes were by far the rarest and spheres the most common... oval-shaped UAPs were infrequently reported"

January 1947 JFK seated in U.S. House of Representatives "[Joe Sr.] spent hours on the phone with reporters and editors, seeking information, trading confidences, and cajoling them into publishing puff pieces on John, ones that invariably played up his war record in the Pacific. He oversaw a professional advertising campaign that ensured ads went up in just the right places... had a virtual monopoly on [Boston] subway space... and was the force behind the mass mailing of Hersey's PT-109 article"

1946 "Ghost rockets" in Sweden and beyond in 1946 Dolan: "By late summer, the phenomenon had spread throughout Europe and beyond, to places such as Portugal, France, Tangier, Italy, Greece, and even India. Witnesses eventually numbered in the tens of thousands"
5/24/1946 Sweden ghost rocket / cigar sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "witnesses saw a wingless cigarshaped object, a scant 30 feet above the ground, spurting 'bunches of sparks' from its tail... object moved at the speed of an ordinary airplane"
5/31/1946 Sweden ghost rocket / cigar sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "just before noon, a wingless, huge metallic cigar was seen moving rapidly at about 1000 feet altitude"
8/29/1946 Top Secret message from US Embassy in Stockholm to State Department (Undersecretary of State Dean Acheson pictured) "While over 800 reports have been received and new reports come daily, Swedes still have no tangible evidence. Full details of reports thus far received have been forwarded to Washington by our military and naval attaches. My own source is personally convinced some foreign power is actually experimenting over Sweden and he guesses it is Russia"

March 1945 USS Delarof, Aleutian Islands sphere sighting (Grok rendering) Dolan: "while in the Aleutian Islands, 14 sailors aboard the U.S. attack transport Delarof saw a dark sphere rise out of the ocean, follow a curved trajectory, and fly away after circling their ship"
8/28/1945 Iwo Jima teardrop sighting by Leonard Stringfield (Grok rendering) Dolan: "12 5th Air Force intelligence specialists aboard a C-46...10,000 feet, the crew saw 3 teardrop-shaped objects, brilliantly white—'like burning magnesium' ... navigational needles went wild, the left engine faltered and spurted oil, the plane lost altitude... in a close formation, the objects faded into a cloud bank... the plane's engines restarted"
Summer 1945 USS Delarof: Robert Crawford was the radioman Per Dolan 2025, possibly a saucer not a sphere, and "summer" not March 1945 (Dolan book rendering) Dolan: "This object appeared dark against the sunset, circular in shape, and was perhaps 200 feet in diameter. It flew almost straight up, then made a turn and circled the ship two or three times"
Summer 1945 USS Delarof: Robert Crawford was the radioman Per Dolan 2025, possibly a saucer not a sphere, and "summer" not March 1945 (Dolan book rendering) Dolan: "At around sunset in the open sea near Adak, an object appeared to rise out of the water about 1 mile away from the ship. According to Crawford, other men claimed to have seen the object emerge from the water, but he only saw it rise from just above the surface of the water" (copy)
May/June 1945 Marine transport ship cylinder & disc sighting, near Okinawa (Grok rendering) Dolan: "there are other examples of smaller disk-shaped craft entering a larger cigar or cylinder-shaped craft. One occurred in May or June of 1945 near Okinawa, Japan. In this case, the crew of a Marine transport ship saw a 'cylindrical object with 3 smaller discs which appeared to enter the larger object, then it took off with tremendous acceleration'... described in a letter to the UAP research group NICAP"
Summer 1945 Okinawa cigar sighting (Grok rendering) Artillery capt William A. Mandel: "moonlight evening..saw a bright speck of light approaching from the south paralleling the coast...coming from the rear of a cigar-shaped object...gave out no light except from the tail... 200 to 300 miles per hour (definitely not jet or rocket speed) at an altitude of not over 400 feet...no wings nor were there any ports or windows visible... moved smoothly and silently...30 to 40 feet long...diameter of 6 to 8 feet”
Aug 1945 USS Bradford "star" / round sighting, near Kyushu, Japan (Grok rendering) Lt. Dan MacDougald: "spotted a 'star' streaking across the sky 600 miles east-southeast of Kyushu, Japan. After turning right, it shot upward at fantastic speed, later estimated to be about 3,000 miles per hour... we were equipped with surface search, air search, and fire control radar... none... could pick up the object"
Aug 1945 Ulithi atoll (Caroline islands) "streak" sighting (Grok rendering) Andrew Cimbala: "while in the Navy, I had the anchor watch... Just after sunset, while it was not yet dark enough for the stars to show, I saw a red streak appear in the sky to the east...directly over my head, heading west toward Japan...visible for 40 seconds or more from the time it came into view...reminded me of a hot bar of steel about a half inch wide and about a foot long"

7/28/1945 JFK and Forrestal in France/Germany Nigel Hamilton (UMass): "Forrestal made good his promise to take Jack to Germany. Although Truman failed conspicuously to invite him to Potsdam, Forrestal flew anyway, picking JFK up in Paris and taking him in his personal aircraft to Berlin, Bremen, Frankfurt, Salzburg... Berchtesgaden. Not only did JFK meet Eisenhower... he obtained an eyewitness idea of the iron curtain as it descended... traveled through Russia himself in the spring of 1939"
7/29/1945 JFK and Forrestal visit Hitler's bunker in Berlin (and later Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden) JFK: "The devastation is complete...the stench—sickish and sweet from dead bodies— is overwhelming...Reich Chancellery was a shell. The walls were chipped and scarred by bullets...The room where Hitler was supposed to have met his death showed scorched walls and traces of fire. There is no complete evidence, however, that the body that was found was Hitler’s body. The Russians doubt that he is dead"
1/7/1948 (placed here for pertinence to James Forrestal) Donald Keyhoe (right) recalling comments from Ken Purdy on Forrestal (left) and Project Sign/Saucer in "early 1949" Purdy: "There’s something damned queer going on. For 15 months, Project ‘Saucer’ is buttoned up tight. Top secret. Then suddenly, Forrestal gets the Saturday Evening Post to run 2 articles, brushing the whole thing off... report contradicts itself. It looks as if they’re trying to warn people and yet they’re scared to say too much"
1/7/1948 (placed here for pertinence to James Forrestal) Donald Keyhoe (right) recalling comments from Ken Purdy on James Forrestal (left) and Project Sign/Saucer in "early 1949" Purdy: "Sidney Shallett—and he’s careful. He had Forrestal’s backing. The Air Force flew him around, arranged interviews, supposedly gave him inside stuff. He spent two months on it. They O.K.’d his script, which practically says the saucers are bunk. Then they reneged on it"

1/7/1948 (placed here for pertinence to James Forrestal) Donald Keyhoe (right) on James Forrestal (left) and the 1948 sighting in KY by Thomas Mantell: "1. USAF was puzzled, and badly worried when the disks first were sighted in 1947. 2. USAF began to suspect the truth soon after Mantell’s death—perhaps even before. 3. Project 'Saucer' [/Sign] was set up to investigate and at the same time conceal from the public the truth about the saucers"
1/7/1948 (placed here for pertinence to James Forrestal) Donald Keyhoe (right) on James Forrestal (left) and the 1948 sighting in KY by Thomas Mantell: "4. During the spring of 1949 this policy, which had been strictly maintained by Forrestal, underwent an abrupt change ...1. The earth has been under periodic observation from another planet, or other planets, for at least two centuries. 2. This observation suddenly increased in 1947, following, the series of A-bomb explosions begun in 1945"
8/1/1945 JFK is the first after Forrestal to deplane in Frankfurt. Forrestal is also believed to have tried to recruit JFK on the trip. Robert Dallek: "The secretary, who knew Joe well and was greatly impressed by his twenty-eight-year-old son, wanted Jack to join his staff in the Navy Department... When Forrestal’s plane landed in Frankfurt, a journalist recalled, the plane doors opened, and out came Forrestal. Then, to my amazement, Jack Kennedy. Ike was meeting Forrestal. So Jack met Ike.”
7/28/1945 JFK arrives in Paris with Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal Editor of JFK's "Prelude to Leadership" on his access to military information as a Naval Intelligence veteran being recruited by Forrestal JFK's editor: "It is a remarkable footnote to history that JFK probably had more 'inside' information on crucial world events in July of 1945 than did the new president who was preparing for the Potsdam Conference"
7/29/1945 Forrestal diary entry summarized in "Prelude to Leadership" by JFK "On the Monday [July 29] Forrestal breakfasted with the President – together with Eisenhower, Clay, Judge Samuel Rosenman, his own naval aides and others [possibly including Kennedy] - and what he recorded of the talk was interestingly enough in view of the meeting with the American armor, mainly about postwar military plans and policies."
8/30/1946 Memo by Acting Secretary of State [Dean Acheson] to Truman "Since shortly after V–E Day the War Department has operated a project known as 'Paperclip'... German scientists have been brought to this country under military custody for short-term exploitation. There remains... in Germany and Austria... specialists whose knowledge and ability could be used to further our technology... may be lost to us unless steps are taken quickly to assure exploitation under favorable circumstances"
8/10/1945 FBI document on Project Paperclip from 1983, FOIA'd in 2018 "On August 10, 1945, the FBI was advised by... Summer 1954 Project Paperclip engineer Hermann Oberth on UAP's Dolan: "West German govt hired [Hermann Oberth] to head a [UFO] commission. As a result of this study, he made a statement, during the summer of 1954, that UFOs were 'conceived and directed by intelligent beings of a very high order. They probably do not originate in our solar system, perhaps not even in our galaxy'... Oberth decided that UFOs were 'propelled by distorting the gravitational field, converting gravity into useable energy'"
Early 1963 Harald Malmgren (right) recalling Richard Bissell (left) comments on alleged Magenta crash in 1933 and U.S. military seizure in 1944 "He said... you have need to know the background how did it end up that Truman transferred that that object from Italy the steps getting there was arranged by Alan Dulles"
1944 OSS allegedly seizes from the Nazis a craft that allegedly crashed in Magenta, Italy in 1933 David Grusch: "In 1933, a bell-like craft, around ten meters in size, was recovered in Magenta, northern Italy. It was kept by Mussolini’s government until 1944 when it was recovered by agents of the OSS"
Lt. Col. Phillip Corso (U.S. Army R&D Foreign Technology Division) recalling comments from Herman Oberth (pictured front) on craft crashes in Germany and Russia "there was crash in Germany from what Oberth told me and there were also some crashes in Russia. Wilbur Smith, the Canadian genius on electromagnetism, brought us a piece of metal that he got from a down flying saucer in Canada" (Art Bell 38 min) (Project Paperclip engineer Wernher von Braun is pictured right of Oberth)
1944 Capt. Edward Ruppelt, USAF, Project Blue Book, writing in 1956 on German craft "When World War II ended, the Germans had several radical types of aircraft and guided missiles under development. The majority of these projects were in the most preliminary stages but they were the only known craft that could even approach the performance of the objects reported by UFO observers... Wires were sent to intelligence agents in Germany requesting that they find out exactly how much progress had been made"
1944 Capt. Edward Ruppelt, USAF, Project Blue Book, writing in 1956 on Hermann Oberth "Herman Oberth, the father of the German rocket development, said that the UFO's were definitely interplanetary vehicles."
