I visited Zakrzówek in the end of 2019. I totally agree for the conversion of quarry to be a quarry lake as a mining reclamation method. It will improve the economic value of the lake as a tourism place and increase the value of novel ecosystems which following the European WFD (water framework directive). But the most important thing that should be considered is the safety aspect (slope stability) even the material is dolomite, because the slope is very steep where he vulnerability of collapse is very high. In several parts, i saw the application of bolting and geotextile, but its not enough. I hope in the future, the safety of the quarry lake will be improved using bolting and and geotextile method including the installation of fences in the dangerous areas.
Once I visited Zakrzówek in the summer of 2020. I remember it vividly since it was still in the middle of the pandemic hustle in Poland. In general, I enjoyed my time there. The water was crystal clear, and the weather was great. Only I did not feel comfortable passing through the fence like a criminal lol. Later I found out that actually it was locked and people were not allowed to enter the area. Police happened to be there, but still, there were many people (mostly youngsters) in the lake - either swimming, tanning, or simply enjoying their time. However, in my opinion, it is important to put a safety fence in the area or some sort to prevent accidents (like drowning), knowing that the lake is pretty deep.
I came for the first time in 2019. I heard from my friend that this place is quite beautiful. And it is true. the water is greenish like an emerald, clean, and like an ancient lake( though later my friend told me its history). We need to walk a bit from the bus stop (around 500-700m) but it is very easy to access. there will be a lot of people during summer enjoying the view, doing some kayaking, swimming, sunbathing, or just enjoying the view below the shadow of the tree. A surrounding area is also a good place to cycle around and there is also a paintball field. I also left a remnant in the lake XD. My phone was dropped out of my pocket and fell into the lake together with my student card and credit card. around 1 month later, a diver from Jagellonian university found my student card at a 15-meter depth but he didn't find my phone. He said that he often finds unique item such as smartwatch, phone, and credit card sink in the lake. So I guess I'm not the only one who wants to leave a memory inside. lol.
