The Production Era The production era was the spark of the industrial revolution. During this time period companies began on prioritizing quantity over quality. This was lead to companies lowering costs, whilst keeping up with demand. The key focus of this era was mass production.
Ford Mass Production One of the biggest companies of the production era was Ford. During this time period Ford began mass producing cars and drastically reduced the time to build a car in order to meet demands. His innovation reduced the time to build a car from 12 hours to around 33 minutes.
The Sales Orientation Era During this time period more companies came about. Due to this sales tactics became more competitive. Companies began to value customer satisfaction. Companies began promoting their products with eye-catching advertisement. Advertising was also done through radio, print, and also door-to-door.
Coca-Cola Advertisement In 1920 Coca Cola began advertising their drinks through eye catching flyers that brought them more customers. Coca-Cola was also promoted as a drink with lots of health benefits.
The Marketing Orientation Era The marketing era revolved around identifying the customers wants and needs to develop a new product. During this time companies looked at the wants and needs of the market and consumers before beginning production on products. They began to value the quality of products rather than the quantity
The Societal Orientation Era This era of marketing focuses on ethical considerations when developing a product. This was because of people becoming more aware of their environment. However, this approach is challenging for small companies because it is hard to provide customer satisfaction whilst excuting an environmental approach.
Digital Marketing Era This era or marketing started first in the the 1990's. This whilst the internet and technology was advancing at a rapid rate. This would then lead to more people seeing advertisements on the internet as more people were using computers, smartphones, et cetera. Now in the present day, advertisements are all over the internet and social media platforms, where companies can promote their products to a target audience.
Adidas Parley Shoes The Adidas Parley clothing line is produced from recycled plastic that helps mitigate the plastic from the worlds oceans. Adidas have also hosted many events to spread the awareness of ocean conservation. My opinion on this good because I believe that Adidas is going in the right direction with their products as they are using recycled materials to make a quality product.
The Product Era At this time period there was too many products for not many people, there was a high supply low demand. Due to this companies began on adding more features to their products in order to differentiate themselves from their competitors so that customers would buy their products opposed to their competition.
YouTube On YouTube there are many advertisements. Usually the advertisements are related to the videos you watch. Social media platforms such as YouTube have came up with algorithms to find out what your wants and needs are based on the content you watch. In my opinion this is not a good thing because, in a way it feels like an invasion of privacy, knowing that these social media platforms can view and see everything I watch.
