The Taliban (“religious students”) is appointed by Pakistan to protect a trade convoy.
Malala Yousafzai is born on 12 July 1997 in Mingora, a town in the Swat district of Pakistan.
At the age of 11, Malala gives her first speech called “How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?”
Malala begins writing for the BBC under a pseudonym, about everything from the increased military activity in Swat to her fears of her school being attacked.

Meets the Queen, speaks at Harvard University, meets President Obama. She is also nominated again for the Nobel Peace Prize. Her autobiography is published, titled: I am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban.
