1832 Reform Act
1848 Chartist Petition
1839 Petition - A petition with 1.2 million signatures was rejected by parliament.
1842 Petition - The chartists sent another petition to parliament which was rejected again.
Second Reform Act - All men who owned/leased a house or land were part of the electorate. This meant that about 40% of the adult, male population could vote.
Third Reform Act - More men could vote. This was now about 60% of the adult, male population. Again, this did not include unskilled workers.
The Labour Party is formed
The Labour Party gains the support of the Trade Unions.
