События
Aristotle: Geocentric; define "planet;" earth as stationary center; model planetary motion as perfect circles around the earth.
Ptolemy: Geocentric; introducing deferents and epicycles to describe Retrograde motion with 80 circles; failed to predict Mars' motion.
Copernicus: Heliocentric; first proposed a model replacing the stationary center of everything but the moon from the earth to the sun based on the assumption that the Universe is unbelievably large; explain Retrograde motion as the result of the earth's motion; general idea published in Latin against many authorities.
Brahe: Geocentric; collecting decades of data about accurate planetary motions.
Galileo: Heliocentric; used a telescope to look into space; discovered geographic features on the moon; discover the rotation of the sun; discover 4 moons of Jupiter; discover phrase of Venus; brought back Heliocentric models; forced to retract theory by the Catholic Church.
Kepler: Heliocentric; used Brahe's data, based on Copernicus' model, to solve Mars' Retrograde motion and developed Kepler's laws of planetary motion.
Newton: Heliocentric; published Newton's law of universal gravitation to explain planetary motion.
