The Bretton Woods Conference
Representatives of 44 allied nations met to discuss monetary future.
The INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND (IMF) was formed as well as the World Bank.
It obliged countries to tie their currency to the US dollar, and the US promised financial help when required.Demobilisation of Troops
Truman took the decision to demobilise 9,000,000 troops, but he left an army of 3,000,000.
It prompted some short term unemployment, due to many more people searching for jobs.Further Demobilisation
Truman decided to further reduce the size of the military, to 1.5 million.
