[1792]English Ambassador is sent to China to offer new and advanced tech[1835]12 Million Chinese were addicted to Opium Smoking[1839]Letter to England's Queen Victoria was sent about the supply of Opium[1839]The Opium War takes place[1841]The peace treaty, the Treaty of Nanjing is created and Britain gains the island Hong Kong[1844]Another treaty is made which gives the U.S and other foreigners gain extraterritorial rights[1850]The Chinese population grows to 430 Million people and the Chinese began to rebel against the Qing dynasty[1838][Hong Xiuquan begins to recruit people to build a "Heavenly Kingdom of Great Peace"[1850]There is a peasant army of at least one million people in The Taiping Army which leqads to the Taiping Rebellion taking place[1852]The city of Nanjing is captured by the Taiping Army[1863]The Taiping Government is brought down by other forces, China pays the price, and at least 20 million people died in the rebellion[1867]The Dowager Empress backs the self-strengthening movement[1889]Many of Europe's major powers and Japan gained a strong foothold in China which was called the Sphere of Influence[1899]The United States declares the Open Door Policy[1898]Gunagxu tries to modernize China but is arrested and replaced by the Dowager Empress[1900]The Boxers revolt and the Boxer Rebellion occurs[1900]A multinational force of 19,000 troops go to Beijing and defeat the Boxers quickly[1905]The Dowager Empress selects and sends a group of Chinese officials on a world tour to study other powerful governments[1906]The group of Chinese officials returns from the tour and they recommend that China restructure its government[1908]The Chinese Court announces that it would establish a full constitutional government by 1917
