Mier y Teran Report. 1828, Mexico hired Mier y Teran to investigate the situation of Texas. The Americans outnumbered the Mexicans 10 to 1.
The Law of April 6, 1830 The Law of April 6, 1830 stated that: 1.Americans were no longer permitted to enter Texas. 2.Those already living in Texas could not bring in more slaves. 3.All empresario contracts that had not been fulfilled were cancelled 4.New contracts would be for European and Mexican settlers 5.All items coming into Texas from the U.S. would be taxed.
The Battle of Gonzales. The Mexicans wanted the cannon that they gave the Texans to defend themselves from the Natives. The Texans buried the cannon and waved a flag that said "Come and Take It." When they came, the Texans attacked, and the Mexicans surrendered.
The Battle of the Alamo Travis set 21 cannons at the Alamo to defend it, making it the most heavily defended fortress in West North America, however, they did not have enough men to defend. Travis sent out what is now known to be the most heroic document in history. Every single Texan at the Alamo died.
The Convention of 1836 Texans gathered, and they all collaborated to create the Texas Declaration Of Independence, With George Childress leading it.
Battle at Coleto Creek When James Fannin heard that Sam Houston wanted everyone to meet at Victoria, he left and met up with 2 other generals. While stopping to let their oxen rest, they were ambushed by the Mexican Army. They were able to defend the first several waves, but when they got more reinforcements, they had to surrender, and the Mexicans killed all of them off.
Battle Of San Jacinto Sam has recruited about 1200 men into his army, and has trained them. While the soldiers wanted to attack today, the officers wanted to attack tomorrow. They decided to go with the soldiers, and Sam sent Erastus to blow up the bridge so they couldn't retreat. After that, they quietly approached the barricades, and using the Twin Sister Cannons, they attacked, while yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad!" The fighting only lasted 18 minutes.
