During this he was making a point that children, with their wide eyes and imagination truly see the power of nature. Adults seemingly overlook the world around them as they leave their concerns elsewhere and let the importance of nature leave their mind. This piece of work was important to the contribution of the American identity because he is urging everyone to be less superficial, we need to take on the world with a sense of childlike wonder and emotional connection. A call to action to create more holistic views of nature, allowing it to see inside their souls and inspire them.
