Описание:
In the 3rd to 2nd centuries BC, the Septuagint was created in Alexandria, Egypt. This Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures was commissioned by Ptolemy II and became widely used in the early Christian church. It played a crucial role in making the Old Testament accessible to Greek-speaking Jews and later Christians. By the 4th century AD, Jerome's Vulgate was produced at the request of Pope Damasus I. This Latin translation which drew from Hebrew and Greek texts, became the standard Bible for the Western Church during the Middle Ages and influenced many later translations.
