11 сент 1919 г. - In a relatively unusual public reference to race relations, in a speech in Helena, MT, says: “I hope you will not think it inappropriate if I stop here to express my shame as an American citizen at the race riots that have occurred in some places in this country where men have forgotten humanity and justice and ordered society and have run amuck. That constitutes a man not only the enemy of society but his own enemy and the enemy of justice.”
