Zaitian, the Guangxu Emperor, was the 11th emperor of the Qing dynasty, ruling from 1875 to 1908. He was the cousin of the Tongzhi Emperor (Zaichun), whom he succeeded, and the uncle of the Xuantong Emperor (Puyi), who followed him on the throne after his reign, though real power during much of his rule lay with his aunt, Empress Dowager Cixi.
