Resolution 3236 (XXIX) – Question of Palestine

The General Assembly,

Considering the question of Palestine,

Having heard the statement of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and other statements during the debate,

Concerned that a just solution for Palestine remains unresolved, affecting international peace and security,

Affirming the Palestinian people's right to self-determination as per the UN Charter,

Noting the Palestinian people’s ongoing denial of their inalienable rights, including self-determination,

Reaffirming:
(a) The right to self-determination without external interference;
(b) The right to national independence and sovereignty;

Reaffirming the Palestinian right to return to their homes and property, and calling for their return,

Emphasizing that realizing these rights is crucial for resolving the Palestine question,

Recognizing the Palestinian people as a key party in achieving a lasting peace in the Middle East,

Acknowledging the right to regain these rights through means consistent with the UN Charter,

Appealing to all States and international organizations to support the Palestinian struggle to restore its rights,

Requesting the Secretary-General to establish contacts with the PLO on Palestine-related matters,

Requesting a report from the Secretary-General on the resolution's implementation for the General Assembly’s thirtieth session,

Deciding to include the "Question of Palestine" in the agenda of the thirtieth session.
