The General Assembly

Guided by the UN Charter's purposes and principles,

Recalling the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (12 August 1949), and Security Council resolutions 237 (1967) and 259 (1968),

Having reviewed the Special Committee's report on Israeli practices affecting human rights in occupied territories,

Concerned about human rights violations and noting that the Geneva Convention's provisions have not been implemented by Israel,

Acknowledging the International Committee of the Red Cross's readiness to fulfill protecting Power functions under the Geneva Conventions,

Commends the Special Committee for its efforts;

Urges Israel to:
(a) Cease annexation of occupied Arab territories;
(b) Stop establishing settlements and transferring its civilian population;
(c) Halt destruction of property and expropriation;
(d) End evacuation, transfer, deportation, and expulsion of inhabitants;
(e) Allow refugees and displaced persons to return home;
(f) Stop ill-treatment and torture of detainees;
(g) End collective punishment;

Calls for the return of those who fled or were deported from occupied territories;

Reaffirms that Israeli measures to settle occupied territories, including Jerusalem, are null and void;

Demands Israel fully comply with the Geneva Convention;

Requests the Special Committee to continue its work and consult with the International Committee of the Red Cross on safeguarding human rights in occupied territories;

Urges Israel to cooperate with the Special Committee and facilitate its access to occupied territories;

Requests the Secretary-General to support the Special Committee's work;

Calls on all States parties to the Geneva Convention to ensure Israel's compliance;

Requests the Special Committee to report to the Secretary-General as needed;

Decides to include the Special Committee's report on the agenda of the twenty-seventh session.
