The Roman Empire becomes too big to effectively govern, so is separated into two autonomous halves. The Western Roman Empire is governed from Rome and the Eastern Roman Empire is governed from Constantinople. Thought to be the beginning point of the Empire's downfall. Britannia is in the Western Empire.
