However this is a well written article that may or may not have been written on demand that makes a strong point about silence, misinformation, highly selective and obviously biased reporting in the mainstream media.

Johnny Depp paid Amber Heard seven million dollars to stop abusing him.

Yes, of course, it’s what she was entitled to in the divorce etc. but imagine that headline. Just as a hypothetical: if it had been Amber Heard paying Johnny Depp a divorce settlement, and we then came to find out he was recalcitrant monster, I’m pretty sure people would be calling for his head. And an annulment. I’m not going to go diving into the psyche of Amber Heard. I don’t think it’s a place I’d like to explore, but the idea that someone not only abused another but then paraded themselves around as the actual victim is something I’d be willing to say the majority of society finds reprehensible.

Just so we’re clear, I do not believe this was a mutual abuse situation. I’m not saying that can’t or doesn’t happen, I’m saying this wasn’t one of those instances. If you look at all the evidence as a whole there are common themes that run throughout. Firstly: We’ve seen quite a bit of it and nearly everything Depp’s lawyer, Adam Waldman, has mentioned has made its way to the public in some form. Secondly: Everyone who has submitted a declaration as a witness to the couple behaving towards each other has echoed the same sentiment. Johnny is quiet, reserved, non-confrontational, passive, tries to get away from any heated situations.

The strength of Johnny Depp’s evidence lies in a few areas. One: quantity. It’s overwhelming. The sheer amount of it is staggering. Two: categories. He doesn’t just have two people who lived with him vouching on his behalf. He has over 40 people from all over the world talking about what they saw happening and all of it revolves around what she was doing to him. He also has all the video, all the time and date stamped photographs, all the audio, the police on his side, forensically authenticated text messages, and other victim’s of abuse at the hands of Amber Heard (this bit has not yet seen the light but has been mentioned by his lawyer on several occasions. Considering everything else has come to pass we’re going to assume these exist.) Three: It aligns with the events *she* describes. In his favor. She was frequently seen out and about looking immaculate after many of the near death experiences she describes in her filing, but Johnny was rarely seen for weeks or more at a time.

The above is all very well established and available to anyone who cares to take the time to look for it. There are a whole lot of people who have not cared to take the time to look for it or do any of the minimal research required to discuss such a volatile topic and, especially, this large of a court case. Details matter but the media doesn’t seem to think so. People are out blasting off editorials left and right to minuscule “print” outlets I’ve never heard of and anyone who will listen amongst them.

The media is extremely biased. I’m certainly not the first to utter the words and I certainly won’t be the last. The latest in the campaign to pardon Amber Heard’s behavior because reasons, we must have reasons, is…. nuance. An article was just released titled All Victims can be Perpetrators on a small blog site called Bitch Media. Couldn’t have named the place better myself.

The first paragraph of this absolute horror of prose is rife with enough errors surrounding the Depp/Heard case that no one should have continued reading it or given any credence to the rest of what the author was about to expound upon. But on it went, into it’s own black hole of nuance and nonsense. In the second paragraph we find two fabrications deposited one right after the other, “in the same recording, Heard says that Depp cut off his own finger during an argument because he was ‘drunk and high on ecstasy.’ While there is no video evidence of either Heard or Depp’s claims, in 2016, TMZ leaked a video of Depp smashing bottles and screaming obscenities at Heard.’

I’m leaving the orginal link above that was included so everyone can see the absurdity at work. It links to a Refinery 29 article that reads, “Leaked Video Reportedly Shows Johnny Depp In Violent Altercation With Amber Heard”. This is how a lie repeated a thousand times becomes the truth.

This is a perfect example of not only the power of suggestion but the power of a lie being repeated infinitely. The finger incident is mentioned in passing in the recording, it is not discussed at any length. There is nothing of Heard saying he cut off his own finger in these recordings. I’m going to to give this writer the benefit of the doubt and say she didn’t even listen to the recordings. If she did then she is purposely lying here to manipulate her audience. The rest of the sentence is a flat out lie and, again, I’m going to assume this person has not watched the video that Amber Heard released through TMZ in 2016 either. TMZ are the ones who threw a salacious headline on it knowing full well many people would not actually watch. What we have now is a typhoon of misinformed people who have never cared to go and visit the very short video in which Johnny Depp neither throws anything nor screams any obscenities at Amber Heard. The amount of times this has had to be said over the last four years is reaching an astounding level.

This article goes on for a few more paragraphs, it cites the Wear Your Voice piece I wrote about last week, annihilating all credibility for it or the writer here in my opinion. She’s towing the line, she wants this to be mutual abuse because, again, men cannot solely be abused without having committed some act of asking for it. Of course this cry has only surfaced because there is now indisputable evidence that she did abuse him. I, for one, would like to know where this was when she accused him of abuse. Where was the, “let’s wait and see, maybe it was both of them”, gang back then? Or even when he filed to sue her last March with accounts of her violence. It took an hour and a half of audio recordings featuring Amber Heard excoriating Johnny Depp to arrive at — they were mutually abusive.

It’s one thing if something labeled as an editorial or an op-ed, where you expect to be reading someone’s opinion. The problem here is two-fold. Firstly, people are accepting op-eds as the gospel truth on any subject of their choosing and thus conflating all kinds of topics and information. Secondly, The writers themselves think that their opinion is the gospel truth and proceed to defend it to the death (internet block) against anyone questioning them, leaving themselves and their readers in an ever growing chasm of their own musings. I know I wrote about this previously ad nauseam but it obviously bears repeating.

Things become dangerous when people accept them at face value and don’t bother to question what they’ve heard, read, or even seen. Ideas are meant to be challenged. Everything now is, “this person said this and they write for a publication so that must be true”. Very rarely is it anywhere near absolute truth. People constantly, constantly, insert their own opinions and their own truths into what they write and they do it in such a way that makes it very hard to differentiate from the rest of what they’ve reported on. The way this statement in the above article was written as fact, “in the same recording, Heard says that Depp cut off his own finger…” this is either nonexistent research or purposeful manipulation and now they’ve infected however many people who haven’t bothered to listen to the recording themselves with this fallacy and they will go on repeating it just like the false claim that he launches a wine bottle or anything else at her in the TMZ video. The level of laziness and lack of personal accountability in both journalism and interested readers is stunning.

In the midst of writing this I saw another article pop up that had no business existing. The Inquirer wrote about an instagram post made by Johnny Depp lamenting his broken heart…. Johnny Depp does not have social media. The post was made by a well known fan account with no known ties to Depp nor were they trying to pull one over on anyone by pretending to be Depp. It says right in their biography, fan account. This is what happens when people fail to read. When people fail to question and search for knowledge. Idiocracy is becoming reality right before our eyes.

Speaking of things that have nothing to do with anything. The last writing I’ll mention today comes to us from celebrated literary conduit Page Six. This is a clearly planted story by Heard herself (or team Heard at the very least) and is a poorly veiled attempt to create doubt in the minds of the public about the character of Johnny Depp. She has requested documents pertaining to his work with Harvey Weinstein over 15 years ago on a film titled, The Libertine. The film was distributed by The Weinstein Company in 2004. She is requesting all conversations between Depp and Weinstein and any evidence of him having been violent on set. For a woman who claimed in one of the latest recordings to have the strongest DV case the prosecutor in Los Angeles had ever seen she certainly is having trouble producing her evidence. Oh right, her claims were dismissed with prejudice essentially indicating she has nothing. This is why she’s casting such a wide and random net for any dirt on Depp. She has absolutely nothing and now must go digging decades into the past, into the time before she even existed on this planet, for any inkling of misbehavior on his part in order to prove he abused her. It makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?

It’s my opinion that anyone who still believes anything she says about this now has pulled wool over their own eyes. They don’t want to see, they don’t want to know, they don’t want to believe. The same goes for all the people writing heavily biased articles with gauche research and hallucinatory facts. I take solace in the fact that, as bothersome as all of this is, the agenda driven faction of Heard supporters has gained no traction. They’re being exposed and trounced, their comment sections permeated with the truth for all to see. The pendulum has finally begun to swing back to some semblance of sanity and not a moment too soon.
