Within the main chamber, Harry looses his wand to Tom. Severus, having cleared the way and followed, attempts to attack Tom. This fails, the curse going right through him, and backfires when Tom restrains Snape against the stone wall. Severus struggles against his binds, but is helpless as he watches the Basilisk be summoned on Harry. Despite his attempts to distract the beast, it follows its orders and charges after Harry.
