Harry arrives in the Potions Classroom. Snape was waiting for him, and bids him to sit. Harry is tense and irritable as he does so. Severus studies him, then questions what was wrong. Harry frowns, confused. Snape explains that he did not take him for the type to start fights with other students, nor the type to participate in foul name-calling. he states that Draco did something to push him to those means, and he wanted to know what it was and why it caused him to react so. Harry looks away, but eventually explains that Malfoy insulted Hermione and he took offense to it too on behalf of his mother. "It pissed me off because I also felt backstabbed for trying to help him." Severus is quiet before remarking that while his actions were wrong, he couldn't quite punish him without painting himself a hippocrite, as he most likely would have done the same. Snape tells him to not do it again, "Or at the very least,""Don't get caught." Harry makes a sarcastic remark about how good a role model he was, but Severus dismisses him, sending him to scrub cauldrons for an hour.
