The Montréjeau-Luchon TER line is currently being refurbished following its takeover by the Occitanie region, and will run on hydrogen-powered trains.

Despite their sometimes difficult beginnings, hydrogen-powered trains continue to fuel the thinking of local authorities. One example is the Montréjeau-Luchon line in the Occitanie region. Stopped in 2014, this 36 km TER line is currently undergoing a major refurbishment. A total of €67 million has been invested by the region, which took over the line in 2016 and plans to reopen it in May 2025.
