1 янв 1931 г. - The Irgun Zvai Leumi terrorist group was formed
Описание:
The Irgun, also known as Etzel, was a Zionist paramilitary group active in Mandatory Palestine from 1931 to 1948. Originating as a splinter from the larger Haganah, the Irgun followed Revisionist Zionism as proposed by Ze'ev Jabotinsky. Known for its controversial tactics, the Irgun carried out notorious operations like the 1946 King David Hotel bombing and the 1948 Deir Yassin massacre, which killed over 107 Palestinian Arabs. Labeled as a terrorist organization by multiple international bodies and governments, including the United Nations and the United States, the Irgun was criticized for its violent methods.
Post-1948, following the establishment of the State of Israel, the Irgun was gradually integrated into the Israel Defense Forces. This integration process culminated in the Altalena affair, leading to its formal disbandment on January 12, 1949. Politically, the Irgun influenced the formation of Israel's right-wing Herut party, a precursor to the modern Likud party, which has been a dominant force in Israeli politics since 1977.
