The 1920 Nebi Musa riots took place from April 4 to 7 in Jerusalem, during the British-controlled period, coinciding with the Nebi Musa festival and rising Arab-Jewish tensions. The violence resulted in the deaths of five Jews, four Arabs, and injuries to several hundred people. The riots followed the Battle of Tel Hai and occurred amidst the Franco-Syrian War, heightening pressures on Arab nationalists in Syria.

During the Nebi Musa festival, inflammatory speeches stirred the crowd, leading to violent attacks on Jews in Jerusalem. The British military administration was criticized for its slow response and inadequate troop presence, which undermined trust among the British, Jews, and Arabs. This prompted the Jewish community to bolster its security infrastructure.

Despite the violence, the Jewish community proceeded with elections for the Assembly of Representatives in April 1920, except in Jerusalem where elections were delayed. The events also led to a document signed by leaders from 82 villages denouncing the violence, though its authenticity was questioned.

The aftermath of the riots saw increased Jewish self-defense efforts and set the stage for the formal discussions on the future of the Middle East at the San Remo conference. The British administration faced criticism for their handling of the situation, leading to a reassessment of Jewish immigration policies and the security measures in the region.
