The Capture of Afula and Beisan on September 20, 1918, was a key moment during the Battle of Sharon, part of the larger Battle of Megiddo in the final stages of the Sinai and Palestine Campaign of World War I. The operation began with the British Empire’s XXI Corps breaking through the Ottoman front at Tulkarm, Tabsor, and Arara on September 19, disrupting the Ottoman Eighth Army along the coast. This success allowed the Desert Mounted Corps, including the 4th Cavalry Division, to exploit the gaps and capture strategic communication points.

On September 20, the 4th Cavalry Division swiftly advanced across the Esdraelon Plain, capturing Afula, a major hub in the center, and Beisan near the Jordan River. This move effectively cut off the Ottoman Seventh and Eighth Armies from their command in the Judean Hills. The subsequent actions led to the fall of strategic locations such as the Yildirim Army Group headquarters at Nazareth and further successes at Haifa.
