This was one of the worst battles that anyone ever saw. Even though this island was tiny the stubborn japanese would not give it up because they might have well of lost if the lost this island. It was being bombed for months but that just made these Japanese realize they needed to go deeper into the sulfer earth. This made them hard to attack. When the marines went onto the island they were faced with no trouble until all of them were there. When they all got there there was so much hellfire that it almost killed all of them. They kepttrying to get up the huge mountain but could only move feet at a time. When the marines finally got up there they raised a makeshift American flag and the entire American battlefield was cheering in joy.
