Irgun blew up the King David Hotel. Due to the bombing:
- 41 Arabs died
- 28 Britons died
- 17 Jews died
They were all mainly civilians.

As a result, the Haganah condemned Irgun's actions and Jews in Palestine were now subject to:
- random searches
- curfews
- road blocks
- mass arrests
