Ryan and the Troopers receive a message from Tyler Steele, who is trapped in Grimlord's dungeon, where the evil warlord is tapping the scientist's knowledge regarding virtual reality. Grimlord plans to rebuild his empire with the Prism of Empowerment, a jewel that contains all of Tyler's information. Ryan must battle WOLF BOT, a new mutant powered with a sample of Grimlord's new technology, while J.B. battles the RABID SPORE. They defeat the mutants. However, Grimlord continues to tap Ryan's father's knowledge. Ryan and the Troopers realize that they must infiltrate Grimlord's dungeon if they are ever to see Tyler Steele again. Jeb decides that he is the only one that will be able to get in without being detected, so he goes for it. Ryan sets out to rescue him and is trapped in the dungeon as Grimlord sets off the self destruct mechanism. Ryan and Jeb barely escape with their lives. Ryan and the Troopers search the mountains above Cross World City for any readings of Grimlord or Tyler with a special device that J.B. has created. They find that Grimlord is holding up in a cavernous temporary dungeon. Ryan must enter the new domain and battle Grimlord's gauntlet of mutants, while J.B. and Kaitlin are trapped in the Chamber of Doom. The Cavern is destroyed and Ryan loses his V.R. powers in the process of rescuing his father and the other Troopers. Tyler is in bad shape. It appears as if there is no hope for him. Or is there? Ryan and the Troopers look to Tao for the healing of Ryan's father. Tyler recovers and gets to work rebuilding the V.R. technology to battle Grimlord's new army. We watch as the villain creates a whole new fighting force in his new Dark Fortress in outer space. Tyler is able to build the new virtual armor. However, they must now secure a powerful crystal to give life to the technology. The Troopers are able to get a crystal to power the new V.R. suit from Tao. They all must battle DESPERA, the ULTRA SKUGS, DOOM MASTER, and the VIXENS in the Quarry. In the end, the Troopers win.
