Stalin wanted to secure Berlin, the capital of Germany, so he could spread communism to west Berlin. He cut off traffic with Berlin, highways, railways, water-movement, etc. With no aid, West Berlin had no choice but to fall to communism. Due to this, the U.S. and Britain supplied them with air transports of goods and weapons.
