As America remained neutral for the first two years of the war, it wasn't until December 7, 1941, where Japanese kamikaze pilots bombed Pearl, killing thousands of sailors and sinking many ships. After this attack, FDR declared war on Japan, beginning the war in the Pacific Theatre.
