A consequence of the 2023 Imperial Resonance Shift was how M03-G, the location they’d shifted to, affected weather patterns. Forecasts showed that things would be colder than what many were used to; temperatures would drop much earlier than usual, and snow would begin to fall much earlier than usual, perhaps even in places that didn’t get snow very often at all. In turn, this also meant that places that usually got snow would be getting a hell of a lot more. The person who had to think about this every day was General Freia Lewis, the head of the Royal Imperial Military Winter Corps. Ever since it started getting cold in early October, Lewis had encouraged a “pre-mobilization,” during which members of the Winter Corps who were either in reserve or were taking up roles in other branches were encouraged to begin training and readying themselves for the winter season itself. It had actually been quite successful, and over the past month, activity among registered members was steadily increasing. The Winter Corps now, like it did the year before, carried with it the sort of rhetoric that it would be the key to the Empire’s future. If Operation Merlin took place in the cold, they would be at the forefront of it. That’s what General Lewis was thinking as she woke up in the city of Jungaro. She had a couple meetings to attend that morning, which were pretty early, and so she was getting ready with a bit of a smug look on her face. However, just as she was about to head out, her face lit up. The morning sun was brighter than usual, this time being reflected off of something with an incredibly white color; snow. Winter had come early, just as had been expected. Grinning, seeing the snowfall, and knowing what this meant, all she had to do was make a call back to Citus. On November 9, 2023, the Winter Corps was officially remobilized.
