Women getting the right to vote was a massive step towards equality in Canada. In 1917 there was a large absence of men, due to the majority of them fighting in the war. This left no one to vote as the rules stated that only male, Canadian citizens could vote. The government had to make a change, as they needed this election to run. They changed the law to allow women who had families serving in the military to vote. Although not all women could vote, it still made significant progress towards equality in Canadian society. This proved that Canada was changing for the better, as it was slowly becoming a more inclusive and equal country. To conclude, the introduction of women's voting rights in Canada created significant progress as it took a large step towards gender equality in Canada.
