In 1997 the Mars Rover project officially began with Sojourner, which was the first rover ever landed on the surface of Mars by humanity. Other rovers such as Spirit, Pathfinder, and Opportunity would follow from Nasa, with other national and corporate space agencies to follow along afterwards.
