The beginning of the Luddite Rebellion took place in Great Britain around 1811. In riots against the textile industry, which was replacing them with machinery, handicraftsmen attacked factories and destroyed machines. Establishing in the vicinity of Nottingham the movement quickly expanded to Yorkshire, Lancashire, Derbyshire, and Leicestershire.
